Hi all,
Not really sure what happened this month - my mood took a nose dive, and after being so regimented and under pressure with work stuff since Feb - and that having all finished - I just exhaled and blew myself back off the wagon. Feeling a little defeated on all fronts - even though I should be feeling pleased I've finished.
I seem to be sabotaging everything right now - buying junk food and stopping what good results I might get from the gym, gym attendance dropping, cancelling social engagements, overspending... YIKES - it must be the start of my SAD hit. Time to get the light box out and hit the St John's Wort.
Sorry for the moanbut wanted to check in and say where I was at - and that I've not dropped off the face of the planet. Will catch up on everyone's blogs on here and try and gain some focus for the rest of the month.
Hope you are all doing ok...

Hello,
I am writing this from the middle of the Irish Sea as we cross back to Scotland after our 6 days in N.Ireland
Nearing the end of the month now. Payday is in a week. Doing alright considering all the expenses this month. Had an unplanned expense, but luckily it won't need to be paid for until next month- DH has a filling that needs replacing plus a clean and polish following a check up on Monday. So I'll put in £75 in next months budget.
My totals-
SFDs 11/18 - see below
Fuel- 221/225. We've an impressive 520miles since Monday and a further 200ish to get us home today. My car has half a tank left.
Food- 107.18/150. A lot of these most recent spends have been stuff for going away. I think we may not need much more in this budget - just milk when we get home on Sunday. Some of this is beer, which DH usually buys out of his weekly pocket money, but as we're on holiday I've let this one slide.
Cash generating: 310/650. I have a dilemma on this- I have sold a set of wheel on eb.ay Thursday evening and arranged collection for Sarurday. I then got a message from this buyer on Friday morning saying he had to pull out as his car had been stolen. Cynical me and DH think he's telling us BS to get out the sale. Told him nicely that I'm sure his car will be recovered and these can be his cars"treat" on return. He replied saying he'd get back to me ASAP. Nothing since Advice please?. I've never had to do a dispute before and equally I don't want to be harsh but I just. Don't believe this story. I've been trying to sell these wheels for 2months and been let down once already on them. Really want to see them gone.
I will have £214 coming in on Friday through 2nd job.
Other: I think the rest of the totals have gone to trips and odds & sods.
Payday for DH is Weds. Cannot wait! Paid off an extra £250 on CC on Friday when our tenants (S&BIL) 4 weekly rent came in. We've been a littl short as I'd not particularly earmarked any additional funds for our visit this week other than monies from petrol and food budget plus our weekly pocket money. I have approx £20 between our bank accounts (wifi hit n miss so can't log in and see) and I have £6.54 in my purse which I'll use to get us milk and a few bare fridge bits when we get home.
This week has been tough for SFDs, I think I have managed just one between Tuesday and today! But we've been off on lots of family trips- we looked like the Walton's yesterday with 13 of us yesterday on a dy out yesterday. Though we took a big picnic including flasks etc so only the entrance fee (£7.50) was spent. Opted to do that, the Ulster American Folk Museum (very good!) over the Belfast Titanic tour which does look good but it's £15 a head! Plus no free parking as far as I could see and picnic benches for us to bring a spread! Hah.
DHs parents have put us up all week and whilst we did a shop at the start of the week they've paid the most of our food and when we had coffees out. My other spend this week was lunch out with my friend and her husband who live over here. But not bad £15 spend. I think we've done okay spends wise, but could have been even better prepared eg brought my bottle of Captain Morgans (excellent choice Mr Cobes) (only 2 Alcohol days Kat which in this country is immense!) and I could have allocated a specific pot of money for the week. We'll be back over in December for our annual Xmas visit, which I think we'll drive over for too, so I can do more planning for that.
Picking up DD, well my feline daughter tomorrow from DMs house who has been looking after her all week. I have enough across my accounts to get her a bunch of flowers for her excellent care and attention of her. That'll also set things up for future stays with "Grandma" (e.g. December stay).
We visited DHs house which his sister & BIL live in whilst there. It needs some work, so we'll need to look into that- I have no idea how much a couple of windows cost to buy and install! For now I have a B&Q voucher lying around at home so I'm going to send that on to them as they've completely re-tiled and decorated the bathroom out of their pocket, but are missing a radiator and want a towel one, so they can out that towards it. Renting to family is full of perks. On that matter we hat built some bridges with DHs brother who is on the mortgage but hasn't ever paid a penny yet won't let us do anything with the mortgage, meaning we're not on the best deal we can be and it's still on interest only despite DH buying it nearly 10years ago now. So hopefully he will now agree to put his signature on some documents so I can shop around and get us a better deal.
Abundant- Sorry to hear you've lost your sparkle at the moment. Re the gym, the hardest part is just dragging your !!!! up off the sofa and taking yourself there. Quite often the mind is tired but the body isn't and exercising the body helps the head no end. Keep trying. Take a walk perhaps, if only to get out the house if you've cancelling seeing friends. @Abundant1972 YIKES - it must be the start of my SAD hit. Time to get the light box out and hit the St John's Wort.
I agree I felt that way last week and missed checking in and the world almost seemed to stop turning- however with the sunshine back I've been up,out and about this weekend!
Planned spend days this weekend, topping up on shower gels, shopping etc as cupboards are screaming at me- so are the kids.
Did go over £30 food budget by £2 so not bad! Albeit if I shopped in asda I would have been 66p better of according to tesco.
I am going to improve on the exercise front and make my charity donation this week. I feel rejuvenated by the dose of vitamin d this weekend!
Lunch is packed ready for tomorrow and I plane to spend nothing for the next few days.0 -
Hi all. Just a quick update from me. Yesterday was a SFD (number 6). Today I bought some petrol so I could get home from visiting my brother and his family. I also bought a few bits of food from M&S before I came home (my brother being a YS stalwart), and it was all YS, so even though I have had a spend day, I am happy in the knowledge that I managed some YS purchases.
My new totals are:
Petrol - £57.42/£70
Misc - £97.37/£120
Food - £70.47/£100
I will update again tomorrow - and will hopefully have done some exercise by then! Have a good start to the week everyone.0
