How exciting a new baby dragon! Congrats LSD, he'll be the thriftiest baby around!

Fyggy - I'm well jel of your north eastern adventures, that's where I'm from and I miss it hugely :( say a why aye for me to the puffins!

Kat - I hope your day has gone amazingly and you've made some mse converts out of your community.

I've had a tremendous day surrounded by all things bakey. I've never been to anything like this before and I am definitely coming back next year! I'm really proud of myself too - got the tickets last month using a code for here so half price, got a train a wee bit earlier so cheaper and used some hanky points so saved there too, got loads of free stuff including a sourdough starter which I've wanted for ages and got my bread book signed by my fave bread maker, saw loads of demos and got great ideas, and ally spends were within my allocated budget! I even used some flat budget to get some really quirky vintage stuff for my new home so won't need to spend as much in ikealand. Great day all round!

Sorry I'm a bit excited by it all, I'll shut up now - cheese and pickle tomorrow! Argh!!

    Evening all,

My day was spent teaching 5-year-olds Gangnam Style. It was a lot of fun, but suffice to say I didn't feel like reviewing a workout video today - I'm shattered!

I snuck in a takeaway on the way home, but seeing as I got an unexpected tip from the party can I count it as a SFD as I'm still a few quid up? :p

Assuming I can claim the SFD, here's my update for today:

    Food £50.87/£100
    Transport £106/£100
    Misc £65.40/£200
    Beauty £5.64/£10
    Food bank £0/£3
    NSD 7/18

Shopping and food banking will be happening tomorrow (day off :j). After I sleep for at least 12 hours!!!

    Happy weekend! xx

  • Well good evening one and all...

CONGRATULATIONS to LittleSkintDragon... so glad baby boy Dragon has arrived safely! If you can load a picture ( you don't have to ) we would love to see him and know his name when you have one! So cool to have babies born.... Mrs Toast how are you getting along?? I know there is on more baby that had arrived that we hadn't been warned about but I remember it being announced..(sorry I forgot who had baby..)..

So today was a success.. never before have I seen so much stuff to give away...we gave people 5 tokens as they came in to exchange for goodies, they earned more tokens if they participated in my display, the "health check display" and others... . I was happy that the person who guessed the closest price really needs the food - it's being delivered to their house tonight.... people were happy to stop and chat so we didn't do the "talk" so to speak but I managed to glean some fun information...
    • One woman said her grand-daughters weren't getting anything special this year. Just a Nintendo DS each...£170..they are 6 and 8yrs old.
    • Another lady who has an 8yr old and a 1 yr old spends a minimum of £60 per week on food.
    • Another lady estimated my £11.02 of EDV food was £25..:)
    • One woman left with free cups / plates and saucers for a cafe she runs in memory of her son who was killed in a car crash with 3 of his friends. This incident really shook up our community - now we know where she is.
    • Another young lady who was clearly living on the bread line took home 4 massive bags of goodies - we were happy the stuff went to someone who desperatly needed it.
    • Entertainment came in the form of Barney the black cocker spaniel and a purple balloon.
    • I have eaten too much sugar.
    • I met a 28 year old woman expecting her 3rd son. She already had 3 daughters. Don't know how people do it - all her kids wanted were the balloons.
    • Another 8yr old spent his "tokens" for free items on antiques and "old skool" goodies.
    • People can't tell the difference in taste between expensive jaffa cakes and not so expensive jaffa cakes. Although my minister cheated and had to "feel" them first...;-)
    • There were more adults getting their faces painted than children and we painted a black nose and whiskers on my friends 18 month old...:rotfl:

SO a good day was had by all. It was an SFD as well which makes it even sweeter... I am off to bed now though with puddy-tat as I am up at 0500 ON A SUNDAY to go to work for a full 8 hours of double bubble.... fingers crossed that I secure two other shifts already applied for a the end of the month and I am SERIOUSLY on the way to being free of this debt sooner than expected...

Hope everyone has an amazingly relaxing Sunday... I think breakfast in bed would be nice, a lie in and an eventual saunter to the local steam room... wishful thinking aye...

    Night all...

    Onwards and Upwards!!!

Congratulations Littleskintdragon and a speedy recovery and an amazing time with little dragon.

    NSK, your day sounded fab.

andrar do you mean Paul Holywood, saw him last weekend at a food festival.

I was told off for it being only September, but I'm sober and bored ;), so i started making christmas cards (i know i should rather be painting the kitchen). We usually just buy cheap multipacks but i thought this I send more personal ones which are free as i got loads of crafting stuff in the house.

    And another SFD.

    Night night

  • Yea, another MSE baby :) Congratulations Littleskintdragon!! Hope you feel better soon.

What an amazing day Kat. You've earned your halo! I always find families interesting - like the "nothing special" Nintendos! It's easy for me to say I know, because I don't have children, but what is that teaching them? You seem to have spread the word rather well though, and had a bit of fun into the bargain - well done you :D

My spend day was planned, although I spent a little more than I intended (all stuff I needed and all from my misc account). I needed an A4 pad and when I bought it I got a voucher for 25% off greeting cards. I also needed one of those so off into the shop I went and picked one for my niece's birthday next week. I also got a spare key cut - my friend has moved nearby so I thought it would be handy if he had a spare. Oh, and I also bought my smoothie as planned :)

Walked lots though so that's the exercise taken care of :)

New car tyre ordered (they didn't have it in stock so I didn't pay for it as planned - grrr, Monday won't be a SFD now when I get it fitted!).

So far, still within budgets, but it's starting to get a bit tight now (considering we still have half the month left!!)

Yoga tomorrow then meeting a friend for brunch - more spending!!!!

Oh well, I'll make up for it with my super-frugal week next week!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend...and I hope the sun shines :)
