    Evening all.

Didn't get the chance to post yesterday because I was really busy at work, no chance of a break at lunchtime and I went to my running club awards do yesterday evening. I won an award! Special recognition award for various events I have done and challenges I have completed during the year. Got a bottle of wine and a £10 Sweatshop voucher so I was really pleased. Didn't have a drink either, well not an alcoholic one.

Today I went to see a new cattery which is £4 a night cheaper than my current one. It was ok. Not as new as my current one but my two cats are going to stay next week and a £16 saving is worth having.

Went to Ald* later for groceries. I should only need fresh goods for the rest of the month. Spent £59.54 in total which is ok.

Also had a nice evening walk along a local route that takes me over the river to a nice pub. Had a quick drink (non-alcoholic) then walked back. It was getting dark, a bit too dark to walk in really but we saw a big owl flying round. OH thought it was a tawny but I'm not too well up on birds so I couldn't say. Anyway, the walk counts as exercise for today and I went to a spinning class on Friday morning so I'm doing well with the exercise part of the challenge.

    My summary looks like this:

    SFD - 3/18
    Groceries - £108.95/£250
    Alcohol-Free - 7/26 (2 parties and a holiday)
    Exercise - 5/12
Packed Lunch 6/16 (On hols part of month)
    Food Bank - 3/3

Going for a bike ride tomorrow, so I hope the weather will be kind.

    Night all.

Well I've started my new job this week... so tiring but I love it. Its just a bit intense because I'm studying in the evening too, not long until the end is in sight though!

My budgets don't look great I must admit, but I knew it would look like this as all my misc. spends were due in the first few days (although called "misc" each one was planned!!)

    So scores on the doors:
Holiday (1 week) £150/0 not yet!!!
Food £30/27.11 - I live with parents so have very little spend here, most of this was a dinner and lunch out (no more planned this month)
Presents £45/30 (came in under budget on one gift, and maanged to get two xmas stocking fillers with the spare cash!)
    Travel insurance £8/8
    Next directory £12/12
Misc £5/0 (this is for unplanned emergencies - one of which I've just discovered may need to be shampoo!)
Petrol £50/50 more than enough to last me the month now.

I turned down an evening out tonight as there was no room in my budget, and I don't even feel sad about it, I'm actually happy. Anyone else feeling happy being a social recluse???

And.... no alcohol has passed my lips, aiming to keep it this way until my holiday. Excersise, however, I am failing at, just so tired with work. Tomorrow, I promise!

    Night everyone!
October Awakening: Food £20/20 Petrol £50/50 Misc £190/194.01 Extra Earnings £100/196.56 SFDs 20/22

    Day 7

Sunday morning with the Saturday spends attached/updated...

Swimming with 2 year old Grandson in the morning...normally go with his Dad as well, however he HAD to go to Marbella for a Stag weekend...So popped into see how D.i.L was coping with the 7 week old Granddaughter as well as the boy....Yep coping as mums do...cuddles with the Granddaughter started off a great Saturday..

Travelling to Blackpool, Haven Holidays !, this is a first !, on Monday for 5 days..so Mr T for treats..Choccy bars, sweets and Veg...these spends attached to 'holiday' not food budget..

First Petrol spend this month...leave 5 am Monday slow drive ( under 70) SAVE FUEL!!!
Cooking today to take my food with me..I prefer my food to dining out in pubs, so I will wait and see if I can find a proper fish and chip shop..I personally don't think you can beat the flavour of ' Northern fish and chips' I know in Yorkshire it's fried in beef dripping..there is probably a law against it now !.

NSK I bought a bottle of Cap'n Morgan this is purely medicinal to take with me as apparently the snow is due next week as the Irish Sea is beginning to freeze, however I believe this too be normal..I have dug out my thick joggers and tops to sleep in so may/not have to open said medicine

Abundant read your post about being happy looked after 1950's style.
I have two books reprinted from 1913.. Don'ts for wives..Don'ts for husbands..
Now having read about the chicken and veg that never cooked itself..I have decided wisely IMO not even to print one sentence from said books.....I actually cook for the family when needed....as obviously I am a much better cook than anyone else ! And I can then moan I am always doing all the work... :rotfl:
Will update tonight as may well be last one for a couple of days...not sure if WiFi is available ...so iPhone is a bit small for my older eyes :)
Catch you all soon. Nearly Xmas :T :p

Sorry havent checked in for a few days, naughty. Have had to dip slightly into my Butlins spends due to a personal emergency but still have £80 for 5 days so should be.ok.

Can't decide what to do with DS today as my back is hurting and OH is out this morning. Will find something cheap I hope!

  • Morning everyone

The boys have their first football match later today - 80 mile round trip which is going to eat up quite a bit of petrol but its unusual to travel that far.

Doing well on the budget BUT my income is going to be quite high this month and the temptation to treat myself is huge!! I need to stay around here and fight the demons.

Exercise, took the dog for a long walk down the fields yesterday. Mum was throwing the tennis ball and doggie and I were racing to get it - dog won every time but it was hilarious!

Mr Cobes, enjoy your trip North - hope you find some nice fish and trips - and watch out for frostbite!! Are you taking some little people with you? They love the Haven stuff.

Right, off to do some paperwork for my voluntary work this morning, otherwise I will doodle around and not achieve anything.
  • Happy Sunday!!

Super chilled day today after a very busy day yesterday! Super wedding yesterday (once we eventually found the venue after de-tours via farms...) SFD yesterday as well- just on the soft drinks which OH, as promised kept topped up. :)

I plan to stay in my pjs for the best part of today...Might go geo-caching later, but shall see. Today looks like it will be a sfd but I shant declare it as such until this eve!
