I can't understand this. My bra gets sweaty and smelly even though I wear deodorant. I couldn't wear it for another day. But I will quite happily wear non-tight fitting trousers several times before washing.

I can wear my bra at least for two days, all it smells if is my perfume. I hardly sweat, and shower 2x a day so there's no way anything of mine really needs washing daily, except my sports kits and knickers!

I have a habit of calling them pants as well. Too much hanging around American sites I suppose, but I think it makes sense - I consider "trousers" to be the formal ones you wear for work, then there's slacks, jeans etc etc.. they need an umbrella term! There's "bottoms" which I try to stick with amongst my own country, but to be honest that bugs me more as to me, bottoms are things with 2 cheeks located underneath your underpants and can't be changed without some significant surgery :)

Errrr this thread is a year old, why has it come back from the dead?

I was Googling based on a similar conversation elsewhere and this came up. There weren't any rules against using old threads that I could find (some are apparently auto locked because of spammers if they're really old, but no rule as such) and it seemed senseless to start a new one. :)

    Many prefer to do that!

The disadvantages are sort of moneysaving related - having to run like a dozen loads of washing per week and the considerable financial and environmental expenses of that, plus wear and tear (particularly on garments that don't look so good with fading or have printing on them)

5 work tops, 5 work bottoms, 7 casual tops, 7 casual bottoms, 7-14 pairs of underwear, 7-14 pairs of socks, however many bras and additional layers, towels, bedding, multiply by 3+ people, the machine would just be running constantly :undecided

People's noses don't get very close to my jeans/trousers as a rule so I'm far more relaxed about washing them. I imagine they'd have to smell pretty ripe before people started to notice.

Maybe about every five wears or so for jeans

I misread "wears" for "years" and thought "yes! finally! it's not just me!" ;)

Seriously, all the people that wash their jeans after every couple of wears...I just don't get it...I don't think I'm unclean enough, or go dirty enough places, that my jeans would start to work up a funk that quickly. I do understand the idea that people want to wear clean clothes, even if they don't stink...but with jeans I really think it's a case of "life's too short"...especially as they feel rubbish and hard for the first couple of wears after washing anyway...they'd be like that all the time...so why would you ever wear them. Still, different strokes and all that.

Seeing as a lot of people feel that way, I've come to the conclusion that I'm the odd one - I only wear jeans a couple of times before washing them because I prefer them fitted and find they're too baggy/misshapen after a couple of wears.

I just love this thread...it pops back up every now and again....a bit like an old unwashed pair of trousers you might find tucked between the washing basket and the wall...

Best go and put them in the wash!

You're not the odd one, I wouldn't wear jeans more than twice either. I like the way they feel when they've been washed and they do feel baggy/misshapen after a couple of wears.

You see people sometimes in jeans that clearly haven't been washed for a long time. There's a line of grime in the creases...horrid.
