Did you view the HBoS account balance immediately after sending the money? The reason I ask is that my Sainsburys=>Halifax HICA transfers do not register immediately at Halifax. However, when you view the transactions (on the Halifax website) the next day they are backdated to the day you actually sent them.

With me the transfer from SBRY to HBOS has always been same day but its not showing at HBOS until the next day. Same the other way HBOS to SBRY.

I can confirm that it really does go overnight even though transactions are backdated. I had to contact Halifax to query a transaction. I sent funds from Sainsbury's to cover next day transactions but as they are processed overnight, they are not classed as cleared funds. Having done previous transfers and noticing the same date transfer I assumed it was all ok.I was lucky not to be charged.
I had a close shave with Nationwide recently too. I've got to be careful with game playing otherwise I'll get caught out.

Thats usefull info. It means funds transferred earn interest immediately but aren't available to "spend" until they actually show up as available.

Well my initial cheque deposit now shows and I have all the dropdown options. Just tried to set up a payment mandate to my BOS current account as explained earlier in the thread but get this message when I click "create":

"An initial deposit must be credited to this account before your request can be completed."

    Not sure what it means:confused:

It's possible that the cheque hasn't cleared yet. When did it appear?
I'll go and have a look at the website and come back. Some give 2 entries, one for cleared and one for balance.

Had a look. If you go to savings transactions, it says near the top left:
Available balance and current balance. Are both your amounts the same?

I had this when my initial deposit was only made even though it was with cleared funds.

Managed to set up the mandate two days later.

You're right. The available balance still says £0.00. Thank you :)
