hehehe what?
I'm not one though, and I work with cost accounting, or controlling, rather than just the booking things variety
Anyway, question, I registered on the Electoral Roll but chose not to be in the version that's available for all and sundry, just on the full official one. Does this then mean that banks can't find me there? I thought that would just prevent direct marketing companies to get my details and send me stuff...Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -

I've opted out too.
Don't worry - you will still be found on the electoral roll for ID verification purposes.0 -

They've been displaying that message for a while now and it gets quite tedious after a few times of seeing it! Would be nice if they had a feature to 'mark as read' any notices like that - I mailed them about it to request it and they said they'd pass it on to the site feedback ppl. Who knows, it might turn up in a couple of years :rotfl:0 -
I opened one of these accounts the other week, i havent recieved the letter to verify my identity but it does say in the letter that this may take a while to reach you
i just opened a sainsbury's online saver account last wednesday and got a letter asking for document id today (tuesday). not so great as, still living with parents, not driving and no current passport i've only really got one thing on the list (bank statement) so will have to phone them and figure out what to do. gave me a laugh to see "current firearms certificate" is one of ten accepted docs yet things i have got like birth certificate, nhs card, NI card, student id / loan papers etc aren't:rolleyes:

Firearm/Shotgun certs have a photo on them and are a pain to get hold of so they make good ID documents.
But ID can be a real pain especially with online paperless bank and utility accounts.0 -
I cannot help but note the irony that you need a printed bank or credit card statement to open an internet-based account!
Of course, as I have stated previously, I do fully understand and accept the need for these anti-money laundering procedures. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
