well, having sat on the fence for a phone for years, I've bitten the bullet on the 16GB one: does look like a superb price, especially when you read even recent reviews!
Turns out work let us use our sims in another brand (currently on an ancient & rubbish blackberry!) so hoping it will work out nicely.
Now to wait for delivery & work out whether work will also send me a micro sim or if I need to get a sim-punch!
Then to learn Android.....any hints gratefully received!Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!0 -
Quick question please..
Thinking of getting the 8GB version but I do like my phone music.
Any ideas how many tracks I could store on it?
Thanks:j0 -

With the 8GB version you should have just under 5GB free space. Remember this is total space though, so you'll have to take into account the space any apps you install will take up too (for instance games can take up a fair bit; Final Fantasy III is over 1GB).
If you only intend to put music on it then it depends on how compressed the files are and what codecs you use. MP3s will take up more space than Ogg Vorbis or AAC files for the same quality.
At the moment i use AAC as the codec for my music and i encode them using ABR @ 160kbps. At these settings i could fit a little over 1000 tracks on the 8GB Nexus 4.
Unless you have good quality ears and earphones 160kbps is overkill for a phone. 128kbps would be a good tradeoff and you'd be able to fit around 1250 tracks on the 8GB Nexus 4.
If Android 5.0 gets support for the Opus codec, as i'm hoping it will, you should be able to drop the bitrate to around 96kbps with no discernible loss in quality, getting you close to 2000 tracks.0 -

Upload all your music using Google Music Manager then you can stream every song you own over WIFI, and you can also choose to keep specific songs to your phone.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -

If this is your first smartphone what an amazing way to introduce yourself to the concept! You will be absolutely amazed at what the Nexus 4 is capable of but please bear in mind you may experience a bit of info overload at first. Just take your time and learn as you go and you will be fine.0 -

I also bought a case off ebay for my luvverly Samsung Tab 3 and it's great. It cost about £6.50-£7.50. Really good quality leather for the price. I saw exactly the same case on sale in the high street for £15! If you're interested have a search on ebay for 360 degree rotating case nexusSnootchie Bootchies!0 -
Arrived today

Although can someone suggest an app/widget to get a whole month calender onto one of the spare home screens?
And is there any way to getting rid of some of the blank home screens?
(Or a quicker way to turn on/off mobile data?)0 -
My order status says "dispatches by 10th September" and has been like that since I ordered on the 30th August.
They charge £9.99 for 1-3 working day postage, so hopefully it'll ship today!0
