    Hi Christina,
    Ruby wedding anniversary would be the 40th...right? Wow!!! I am impressed!!! Together for that long, congratulations to them.....They certainly need an impressive money saving experts gift. Will keep an eye out for any deals you could use.

    I did one this year, it had red wine red choc, ie maltesers, wagon wheels, even red washing up liquid as he always washes up, despite there being a dishwasher.

    It's amazing just walking round the supermarket just what is in red packaging.
    Ruby port, a rose?

    I didn't include any ornaments or 'stuff' as they don't like those

    Good luck, I loved shopping for it, the same people are getting an Australian theme one this Xmas

  • For my friend I'm doing a pampering phd hamper (she's finishing her phd over the xmas and spring). I'm going to put some a nice scented candle, posh nail polish, a face mask ... bit stuck for ideas after that. She lives in another city so it has to be small enough to bring back with her on the bus.
  • Thanks for the ideas - am going shopping at the weekend so will hopefully get some bits and bobs x

    Bubble bath, a book now that she hasn't got to study she might have some leisure reading time? Moisturizer, hair oil?

    I'm thinking of including aromatherapy oils and a face mask, hand cream and a book is a good idea, perhaps a relatively short classic.

    Hi Hobbitfancier,
    I was thinking if I just finished my PHD, I wouldn't want to see another book for a while :D but that's just me.
    How about getting her some of the movies she missed out on whilst studying or a couple of chick flicks with popcorn, tissues (if she is a crier, :))
  • Still trying to figure out what to get for my 2 sisters and their respective husbands to put in the family hamper I'm doing......would I come across as "extra cheap" if I put a shoe polish set in as a gift to my oldest brother in law (He is 40yrs old) along with a bottle of his favorite spirit drink? I have planned to get my sister, his wife, a fabulous pair of shoes along with her drink (Kinda got the idea from earlier on in this thread, I think it was a night out hamper).
    My other sister will get her drink and....?????. Thanks to Hobbitfancier for the idea, posh nail polish might be it for her, a girl can never have enough nail polish, right?
    Her husband is crazy about Liverpool F.C. so I scrapped the drink idea and instead I am going for Liverpool F.C. items and the boob candy.If anyone can point me in the direction of reasonably priced Liverpool F.C. items, I would be grateful (I have been on Liverpool's website, items I would have liked to gift are way beyond my budget)

    Madeforcheapshopping... I am sure they had lots of Liverpool football team related gift items reduced in Sports Direct last weekend when I went into my local shop, so might be an idea to have a look on website or see if you have one local to you. Hope that helps!

    For anyone doing pamper hampers, Home Bargains have some really nice looking hand and feet treatments for 99p each. They come in a sachet and have the gloves/socks to use as well as the stuff.

    Am doing a bath/shower hamper for my mum for her birthday in November. So far have:
    • a new bath mat (sounds random but quite a nice one, very soft and supposed to absorb lots of water);
    • shower cream;
    • one of those strap things for doing your back;
    • a sponge;
    • a nice soft flannel;
    • a pumice stone shaped like a foot;
    • one of those sets with scented liquid with little sticks in to make the room smell nice (sorry, brain seems to have frozen when it comes to proper names);
    • and the hand and foot treatments mentioned above.
    Still want to get some more bits - am doing it in one of the £1.99 baskets from Home Bargains.

    Was thinking of doing a bath pamper hamper for DD1's birthday in early December - similar to above (but not the bath mat) and include a towelling bath pillow, hair turban, nice bath foamy things (no Kiwi as she's severely allergic), nail varnish, face pack, hair treatment, some nice tealights/holders and a small bottle of wine. She's due to give birth at the end of November so want her to be able to enjoy a relaxing bath for the first time in ages. Might try to find a different basket/container though - don't want her to think she's got the same pressie as her Nan who's 79 lol.

    Keep up the good work everyone, it's so lovely to read about what you're all doing.
    It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

    If you have a Home Bargains nearby they also do quite a bit of Liverpool (and Everton too for that matter)
