ETA maybe we can start a personal challenge? Just read the end of last weeks thread, well done Valli for going solo, and confidence vibes to deco for same. Hmm. What shall I do? MIL has said I should arrange something for Tuesday nights as she usually stays over after swimming and she'd be happy for me to go out in the evening - I had thought maybe starting yoga again...

A great idea - I do most things on my own, I'm doing a dress making course at the adult ed centre starting mid September, think nothing of getting on the train to go up London, but going to the cinema on my own has been my everest.

I've had a look on my local cinema's website and About Time is showing next Weds & Thurs so *deep breath* I'm going to go to see that.

    Thank you

I don't know whether this will help, but if the solo-cinema visits are daunting, try going to a matinee rather than an evening showing. I caught up on all the films I'd missed from my childhood - the original 101 Dalmations etc etc - at a right old fleapit in Bournemouth during the late 70s on Monday afternoons, which was my day off from the wine bar where I worked at the time. I used to treat myself to a family-sized bag of malte$er$ and munched my way through everything I wanted to see. I felt utterly decadent and blissed out.
    Better is good enough.

    List is getting shorter:

    Hoover through house - done
    Gardening, mainly mowing
    Clean fridge
Catch up with all washing - first lot on line, second of five in WM.
Walk dogs - too hot, need to bring fan into room for them.

Another one, still need to finish the frog which is broadband.

And I have put out recycling & composting and cleared up after the dogs.
Spend less now, work less later.

Oh and nicki, thanks for the c-word links. I really want to be a bit organised this year and enjoy the season properly. We're staying in London this year cozI don't have the holidays to go home, so I want it to be really special, and as OS as possible!

You're welcome. As I said I've been following one or the other of those plans for years. I skipped it one year and I hated that I was so stressed out. Even if I don't follow the lists exactly, it certainly helps keep me focused.

DD has just got up. I've let her sleep in today as we'll be up at 6am tomorrow whether she likes it or not :D Back to school a week on Thursday but before that I have work and appointments. DD has asked if we can go to the butchers attached to the abattoir, its a 2 mile walk so that can be tomorrows job when in theory it'll be less busy with people being back at work. I'm guessing lots of raw meat and hot weather, we'll be jumping the bus back, so may take a wander to a few other places if I get passes ;)

    I guess I best write a list:

    Dailies:

    Wash up MTWTFSS
    Beds MTWTFSS
    S&S Bathroom MTWTFSS
    S&S Kitchen MTWTFSS
    HHTidy before bed MTWTFSS
    Accounts MTWTF
    Crafting (1hr min) MTWTFSS

    Mon:
    Tue: Butchers?
    Wed: Order arrives
    Thur: Town?
    Fri: Opticians 10.10am
    Sat: No ex
    Sun: Ex here

    Work:
    Tax return
    Shredding
    Write newsletter

    Other:
    Ironing
    Uniform labels
    Sofa cover on
    Mr A order
C lists / home spruce up list
    Sort calender showing work dates.
    Baking (Bread minimum)

    Manic Monday:
    15 Minutes
    S&S in the bathroom.
    Wipe over sticky areas
Wipe the loo (different, dedicated-to-the-loo cloth for the outside)
    Bleach round the bowl
30 Minutes - as above plus
    S&S in the kitchen
wipe over the worktops and taps
    empty the bin
    wipe the handles
1 hour - as above plus
run the vacuum over high traffic areas
    empty all the bins
peg out some washing - let it blow dry!
    Excellent extras
Start your ascent of Mount Ironmore - aim to reach base camp today!
E&W - school looms - source those sandwich boxes and bags - make sure they're clean - wipe them out and let them air dry if necessary

I'm off to make a coffee and juggle washing around. I can't hang washing out as my yard is full of flies and I have no idea where they're coming from so I'll hang stuff on hangers on the curtain rails instead with the windows locked open. It'll also cut down the ironing required ;) I'm going to do a HHC at 12 if anyone wants to join me?

Late logging on because I have flown on the PC; the tower has been dusted externally and I have cleaned the heatsink internally (yet again) because the fan was slightly noisy.
    It's now so quiet I can't hear it's on!

Also have washed a towel load tea towel/handtowel from the kitchen, dishcloth, a couple of MF cloths and the 3 new bath and hand towels for DS for Uni and the turquoise hand towel I bought for DD to take. IMO new towels are rubbish and about as effective as rubbing oneself with clingfilm.

    Great idea!
I've started going to a dancing class again. DD has ballet 6-7 on a Tuesday and the mums class is on 7.30-8.30. I never go out on my own past the corner shop so its been a big thing for me. Totally enjoying it though!

Personal Challenge - Climbing the 'ME' Mountain? - sounds like a plan. Obviously, for some challenges there will be intial steps to start the journey. (Because, of course, the only thing stopping you is you!)

Valli, can I get your banana loaf recipie? I did a wee bit of baking yesterday but we sat and munched it all. Slices in the freezer will do nicely for next week I think.

Sorry - it's in imperial - here you go

1lb 3 oz RIPE bananas (but you can safely use less; I have)
    2 beaten eggs
6 oz brown sugar (any - I use soft/light usually)
    4 oz sultanas
    8 oz SR flour

mash bananas; add beaten egg, sugar and sultanas (I mix it all well at this point but that's from experience)
Stir in SR flour; mix well

turn into a greased and lined 2lb loaf tin (I use preformed liners so don't grease anymore)

Bake for 1-and-a-half hours (approx - test with skewer)

Store in an airtight tin, once cold, for 24 hours before eating, (It needs to 'mature a bit; you can eat it though;)
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY

  • Good afternoon :D

I am in this week, thanks Valli for the list.

We are home from camping :j:j I am a miserable cow :o I couldn't wait to get away from there! I shouldn't have gone really. All I could think about was the stuff I should be doing, and getting wound up by stuff being left everywhere! Tempers were a bit frayed - especially as when we arrived we realised we should have bought an Ark not a tent!! Luckily the field was surprisingly well-drained.

The floods have now subsided locally, and it is now a beautiful day :) WM is on, but DH has hung the tent over the washing line  He didn't even put it bottom-side up, which would have been sensible. I hate to say it, but he appears to be doing his utmost to irritate me at the moment :( Or maybe it is just me :(

I need to hang the washing out soon, and go shopping. I haven't had anything to eat yet today, so I need to do that too. I will see what I can do from the lists as well :)
