Good morning all
I fell into bed last night at 9.15, having achieved very little during the day apart from shopping, watching DGDs 1 and 2 for an hour and doing a basketful of ironing. The plasterer is coming today to finish the lounge - perhaps we shall get some paint on it by the end of the week- and then there is only the dining room to be done on Saturday. We had the doors and windows open all day yesterday, to dry out the plaster in the hall and stair case, but it is feeling decidedly cooler and, just as the main part of our building work draws to an end, summer appears to be on its way out. Can't complain, though: we've enjoyed the warmth while it lasted
Today cooking will be severely limited by the amount of lounge furniture being stored temporarily in the kitchen: sofa, coffee table, desk, keyboard... there's hardly room to get to the kettle, but I'll reach it somehow
I'm going to attack an overgrown bush in the back garden (which also looks like a moonscape, with a mound of earth piled up on the weed-infested square which the estate agent laughingly called a "lawn", and a big hole at the corner of the lawn where the new decking is going) to make room for my favourite hellebores - T&M have a special offer on plug plants and I feel another order coming on! I must also pot up the order which arrived yesterday: thank you for the tip, Martin :money:
Having stripped out so much from the house and garden already (and there's still a bit more to be done, upstairs and in the front garden, but not so urgently) it feels really good to be starting to put things in :j
Welcome to newbies

Woke up with really bad toothache this morning, guessing I was grinding my teeth a lot last nightUp early today so DD can have a bath before going out with ex. I'm hoping to jump in as well before he arrives. I don't take anywhere near as long as she takes so I always go second

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month
Safely home, as expected the worst delays were in the UK on the M25. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by how much I have to do in the house but more energised than when I went away.Re the Challenge - I'm in two minds whether to join; I'd like to get back to actually being able to do a bit more on a daily basis, as well as coping better if I have to interact with people, but I fear I would fail miserably on both counts.
It doesn't matter if you 'fail' we don't count thatand I know you are strong enough to take a baby step with us here to cheer you on
So, regarding the challenge, are we keeping on the same thread? I can try get on straight after Natty on Sunday and list our personal challenges - feel free to pm me yours and I'll compile a list, which I can add to, and each Sunday night I can do an update on the previous week with a reminder of who's on the list? Does that sound ok?
Thank you, sounds great. Do we want to add in some sort of 'star' to encourage. I'm not sure if you were here when we did stars Bossy bu it was a huge success. We could have different colour for making a start, or we used snowmen before, anything really - you can be in charge!
Today's list:
Washing
Ironing
Food shopping
DS3 - still needs bag/PE bag/pencil case/grey socks
Move sofa, list on ebay, new one coming tomorrow  feel a bit nervous as to whether I will still like it.
DS1 to cut the grass and the conifer hedge
DH to put up blind and mirror in DS3 room
DS3 still has homework to complete
DS1 sort stuff from old room and tidy his new room
Looks like the holiday is over!
Oh also need to pick fruit, go blackberry picking, pinch out tomatoes and water tubs, DS2 doesn't have a job so can help with these. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Morning all. Hope you're all ok. Quick list for me today:
Wash up
Gym
Bath
Walk dogs
Bath dogs
Hoover through house
Cut grass
I've already fed & medicated us all, had breakfast, cleaned both freezers and meal planned for the next week & half.
Nikki, I occasionally grind my teeth and have a gum shield to use from the dentist. Could you ask for something similar to be made?
I won't be joining you all in B'ham as it works out quite expensive. I'll wait till a meet further north is arranged (York, Hull, even Scotland would be cheaper to get to!)
Oh, and I mentioned (Piggers?) quote about housework being a spectator sport to OH, he said we should make it more interesting then, by dressing 'to please the eye'. I think you can guess what my reply was.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Lovely, we can evolve the status updates over time - the challenge is to get started
DS being a bit of a git this morning, we have had throwing, pushing and whining incidents... I'm ignoring him, apart from sending him upstairs out of the way.
Have done a spot of flinging - digging through a box of paper plates and other related gubbins. We'll use some today (!) but the rest can go if it doesn't fit in the 'designated space'.
Have wrapped DD present from my brother - it arrived via amazon yesterday, a box of dressing up shoes and accessories, and a few books :T
Tidied 2 shelves in garage and disposed of some contents. Had an idea about DD bedroom cupboard too - better organised. Might go measure now to see if it will fit...Bossymoo

Good morning
I have been busy with work this week - settling in sessions & getting my online electronic paperwork ready to start the new month.
Went to a 50th birthday BBQ at one of my dearest friends. It was from 3 pm onwards - we got there about 4.30. my other friends didn't turn up until about 7pm thoughby which time my DH was saying about having a stomach ache, and spent most of the evening sitting in the car
we left about 9.30. I feel bad as I wanted 2 stay (we have the use of another car at the moment, so should have taken 2!). My kids wanted to go as well, so reluctantly I left
I am also not convinced that DH felt bad. I suspect he just didn't want to be there  he is still quiet now, I may be doing him an injustice
I am just not in the mood for any attention-seeking behaviour, as I feel I have put up with enough already this year (or the last decade!!) I am grumpy again
Sorry - rant over.
Car(s) loaded up with DD1's stuff. We are taking her back to uni today for the start of her final year. We have to empty the storage space as well when we get there. I have apologised in advance that I am unable to treat us all to lunch (probably adding to my grumpiness).
So, apart from decluttering DD1 & her 'stuff', not much flying will be happening here gain today!
On the subject of photos - I would bin all the pictures of people that have negative feelings attached to them, or the endless pictures of places I can't remember or various animals at zoos! (or is that just me) Family & good friends I would keep. But then I never throw pictures away, so you probably wouldn't want to listen to me!!
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them.0 -
Morning All
About to start on the ironing - well some of it, I don't think I'll find the bottom of the mountain! GI - I've got loads of randon pictures of zoo animals and suchlike as well which I should get rid of.
Start new job tomorrow so quite nervous about it although it doesn't really seem real at the moment after having 6 weeks off that I'm now going to be going to a new school. I'm sure it'll seem real when I'm leaving here at 7.30 in the morning!
Have a good day all
Hugs
