July 2014 Brides and Grooms

My plans are going well. We booked the venue and negotiated a £2000 discount off the cost which makes it a lot more affordable! We designed the save-the-date cards ourselves and got them printed at a local printer (much cheaper than Vista Print!). The address labels are printed but the envelopes are still with the courier, they keep trying to deliver when we're out the house, grrr!
i'm also growing my own centre-pieces for the tables! I like the idea of having a living fruit-plant in the centre where people could pick the fruit and eat them, but then i took it 1 step further and decided that i'd rather have a chilli plant. so i bought some Peruvian Purple Chilli seeds and i'm growing those instead (our colour scheme is purple). I just hope they grow in time! If not, I guess we'll be making a trip to Homebase the week before the wedding to buy something else! I have 3 seedlings already and i need 12, so i'm hoping more pop through.Aiming to pay off £50,312.94 in less than 3 years - Starting from December 2015
Current debt total: £32,756.02 (as of 1st March 2018)
Date Free Date Aim: Summer 2019 (8 extra months needed)

eeekkkkkkkkkkk,,,,,, 19th july here.
im pretty oragnised,, everything is booked and deposits paid, have my dress.
its now just all the little niggly bits n pieces like decorations and accessories etc.
Im having a registry office wedding with the reception at our local cycling club. no fancy meal etc just a huge buffet.
I CANT WAIT0 -
Wow, I am not sure why I picked 26th July except was convenient for work.
I have to change reception venue, church booked, recently refurbished so thrilled. I was planning for approximately 200 (hoping 150 attend) but now guest list seems to have increased to 300 and current venue can only take a maximum of 200 without the fitted dance floor, I was keen on having.
I have gone back to drawing board, contacted several venues, all their quote above budget and for the ones within budget no longer available. I can now see why? I also found while researching wedding websites a list of weddings in July and the 26th July had one of the longest see gettingmarried website directory for month of July.
I have also changed themes several times not sure can do diy due to not having time off work but might start now in my off days if I can't get a bargain. I have found centrepiece expensive especially for 30 tables. If you are aware of offers in newcastle area or nearby please send details.
My dress is being made as a gift from my mum, thankfully. I have done the first fitting but I am hoping to lose more weight.
I was bargain hunting and learnt about the bespoke china and turkish wedding dresses wasn't 100% comfortable due to the difficulty with returning them. I had a friend that got a fab deal and we didn't know at the time were she got it from but had another friend that got a grey dress instead of ivory and ended up looking for a new dress 2-3 weeks before her wedding.
The photographer is booked was a great deal, I saw on wowcher. I still have a list of too do but working my way through when I can. Congrats to you all. I am sure your wedding will be great.
PS: I want my theme to based on crystals seems an expensive idea especially with centrepiece. Hmm any ideas?0 -
Hi Flock!
When you say your theme is crystals - do you means crystals like swarovski or crystals as in minerals and stones?0 -
Hello fellow July brides!
My big day is on the 26th. Just recently started getting everything together and I'm very nearly in full blown bride-mode!
Designed the invites/menus/rsvps this week. Was just going to order them off a maker on ebay but after procrastinating for months on the day I finally sat down to order them there was a note on the sale saying she was away for a month! Serves me right for putting it off!
I've looked at dresses once but i'm inbetween sizes at the moment so the 14s were too big and the 12s were too small so i need to get my self back to a workout routine!
Only speedbumps we've had so far came from the restaurant we had booked initially: they were awful at keeping in touch and although they confirmed it in September they kept saying they would get back to us re. paying our deposit and then a couple of weeks ago came back and said that the chef was unwilling to work! So there was a mad rush but we've now found another restaurant about 5 doors down who are doing more for less and have been brilliant so far!
And of course the future MIL has been a royal pain in the cheeks. Amongst other things she's complaining about not being able to invite people who are "such important parts of the family" but who I've never met them in the 6+ years i've been attending family events with my OH! *sigh*
Been reading these forums for a while but couldn't resist posting on this thread, it'll probably save my life too! I think my bridesmaids are getting close to throttling me because keep bothering them, I'm too excited!0 -
Wow, I've had a busy few weeks!
Flowers booked.
Cake - designed and flavours chosen.
Suits hired for h2b, dad, brothers and nephew.
Lawn games purchased
Hotel for wedding night booked.
Have been to 5 of our 10 qualifying church sessions today!
We have our menu tasting next weekend. So hopefully after that we will be all sorted. We've ordered invitations, but need to wait for food choices before they can be printed.
Took future MIL shopping last week and got her a beautiful outfit.0 -
Finally getting some stuff done now, have booked band today, and we're going to do some food tasting tomorrow, but pretty sure we'll use them anyway - anything for free food
Invites have arrived, just waiting for RSVP ones to turn up and can send them out.
Just need to sort out drinks, cake, car, their suits and some flowers now I think.
How's everyone else getting on?0 -
Hopefully I should have my invitations on Tuesday, so will be getting them out ASAP after that!
Had our menu tasting, was all delicious! But we've chosen and are giving guests a choice on the rsvp cards.
3 more church sessions to attend before we're qualified. I have my hair and make-up trial on 13th April.
Still need to get his ring, but not sure what else there is to do now!0 -
