If the guy had not professed to be a Christian his affair would not be an issue.
Don't you find that logic a bit strange? You're implying that a non-Christian can commit sexual wrong and yet have integrity in their professional life, but a Christian can't."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Fair enough - would you think differently of a non-Christian adulterous councillor to a Christian adulterous councillor?
Is it relevant that it's a sexual sin? Would you apply the same standards to a gossip, glutton etc?
Of course as one of them is a Christian, in the example I gave I don't know if the woman my 'friend' had an affair with was a Christian themself.
I definitely would have problems with someone who was a gossip.:o Gluttony is more difficult as it doesn't have a direct correlation with public life.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

No....I expect a Christian to attempt to live to Christian principals. I don't expect someone who is not a Christian to necessarily have the same principals. They might see nothing wrong with having an affair, or think they had a good reason for having it.
(I do NOT mean that Christians are more moral than others. I mean that others may have different viewpoints on morality).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

What have you got to be proud of? You did nothing, you didn't choose to be born where you were.
pride |prʌɪd|
noun [ mass noun ]
1 a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of one's close associates, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired: the faces of the children's parents glowed with pride | he takes great pride in his appearance.0 -

So tell that to women's lib or gay pride. I can be as proud of my accident of birth as much as they can. They did nothing either to be who they are.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Is it more difficult? The Bible says a Christian who is a glutton walks as an enemy of Christ and their god is their belly. Phil 3:18-19."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -

Quite right, why is it seen as wrong to be proud of where you are from? I'm a proud Scot for the record.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Oh ok, so its a spite thing.
Well, enjoy it I suppose, although I must point out that there's no mention of pride in 'women's lib' and nobody's called it that for a long time!0 -

I'm pretty sure I did quite a lot to be allowed to be who I am. Often fighting against those good old moral Christians.0
