As said below and send them a letter

    Dear xxxxx

Thank you for your unwanted flier, menu or whatever I received on xxxxxx 2007.

As I sign of my appreciation I am repaying the service to which I didn't subscribe too nor wanted, and as you can see I have enclosed abundance of unwanted fliers for you to mull over in the days and weeks to come, perhaps you may think twice about sending rubbish to my letterbox in future.

    Your faithfully

    Victor Meldrew ;)

Why not get your own back assuming the companies are local and post a load of unwanted buff on there doorstep/letterbox to see how they like it.

    My junk mail method:

    1. Open it all.
    2. Remove anything with your name/address on.
    3. Shuffle well.
    4. Replace in random postage paid envelopes.
    5. Post back to whoever !

I am considering filling in names addresses at random so that I don't have to send the AA stuff back to MBNA, perhaps I can get them to do it direct ! :rotfl::rotfl:

I used to put a large notice on my letter box: "Royal Mail Only". That worked for a while. Then: "NO leaflets or newspapers please". That also worked for a while.

Now, nothing works. All these leaflet deliverers nowadays are foreigners who speak no English, let alone read it. I have caught a couple of them and tried to explain that do NOT want the stuff, but they just stared at me.

    Before anyone has a go - I'm a foreigner myself. ;)

As for the addressed junk mail, I do exactly as moonrakerz says. :)
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Whats most annoying is getting leaflets for new garage doors when I live in a terrace with no garage, leaflets for double clazing which I already have and leaflets for flat roofing when I don't have a bloody flat roof!!!

As someone who makes a living out of posting junk mail as you call it I think you should all bare in mind that this feeds my kids, puts a roof over there head and also pays my national insurance and tax. I could of cause sit on the dole but then I would also be moaned at I suppose. Oh and by the way, I have a good degree so can certainly read and am also english. d No, I don't post through houses with signs on that say they don't want the leaflet, but do any of you actually work for a company that uses this as a means to advertise, you would be surprise how many companies use this and how successful it is. I also get junk mail but have no problem with recycling, as for free papers, try reading them and then recycle. It anoys me how many people have signs that say they are doing it for the environment but have 2 or three cars on their driveway, whilst I walk for my job.

I know you are all going to moan at me, but just think of the other side sometimes.

So we should just accept unsolicited mail that we just don't want??:confused:

I'm sure I read something somewhere about being able to stop Royal Mail delivering junk mail with regular post - didn't a postman get the sack for explaining to customers how to stop them delivering it?
I went to the Sorting Office to ask them to lay off delivering the junk mail, but they've taken no notice. I just re-address it now and send it back to them :D

    you can opt out.
    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=400126&mediaId=500081

however what you deem as junk mail is dependant.
dorr2door items(D2D) are unadressed items which can be opted out.
'junk mail' with your address cannot.its not down to royal mail to deem what is or isnt junk mail and is delivered as addressed

All the stuff addressed 'to the householder' delivered by Royal Mail - definitely. Let the sorting office deal with it and waste their time.
If its addressed to me - I send it back to the idiots with 'not known at this address'. More for them to deal with :D

and if the postie starts returning all your mail as you are not known.how would you feel?
for some reason people seem to think its the postie/sorting offices fault? RM takes on the contracts for D2D items.
any mail addressed to you(or your poperty as occupier is covered under the legal obligation to deliver!
