As much as getting junk mail, leaflets and flyers is annoying it really is quite difficult to stop.

You can opt-out of receiving flyers from Royal Mail and you can put up a sign saying that you don't want flyers and leaflets from other sources but - in all likelihood - the sign will be ignored.

Small local businesses and marketing agencies don't have any incentive or financial motivation to stop delivering leaflets to your door. They may have a statutory obligation to stop mailing spam through your letterbox but the reality is that it's hassle for the householder.

After realising that it was more work than it was worth trying to stop junk mail I started gathering up everything I didn't want and recycled it. No stress, no hassle.

Don't be too hard on the leafleters, or the companies behind them (If local).

They are only peeps trying to make a living, after all.

There's a grotty takeaway company selling trays of grease and crap that put a menu through my letter box every week. I'm collecting them, tearing them up and putting them in a big envelope which will be sent back to them without a stamp.

if you have a printer, do a google search for "no junk mail/ leaflets/ sales...." then look under images, find what you want and print it out for your window. save yourself a few pounds.
