Door sticker to stop fliers, menus, free papers etc...

Hi

Would anyone know of somewhere to get a good weatherproof sticker to put on a letterbox to try and stop to free newspapers, take away menus, fliers, advertising etc being delivered?

I'm so fed up not just with having to recycle all these but also that most of the time they don't even seem to push them all the way through and often I come home to find a soggy mess on the door step or half hanging out the door. I have tried contacting the offices of the two free papers I get but this doesn't seem to solve the problem for more than a couple of weeks.

I'm renting the house so can't screw any plaques etc to the wall or door and the home made stickers I've produced, even laminated ones get the rain in them so they can't be read after a while.

Any advice appreciated.

It's at the gate, Redcar, that the sticker or whatever needs to be. Immediately before the deliverer delatches the gate.
You need a gap between the street and your front door.
  • Regarding the free newspapers, its best to just ring them and request you are added to the list of "not required".
Doesnt always work first time, but persevere and stay polite with the office staff as it comes down to the efficiency of the person doing the delivery.
We used to have 5 delivered every week, only read one of them, so cancelled the other 4.

If you tell them that you are removing their "implied right of access" to your property any further newspapers delivered are "trespass".

Notices don't seem to work. I put one on a house I am renovating and still get all the junk. The only time it did seem to work was when I saw an Oriental gentleman come to the door and then go away - I wouldn't have minded one of his menus !

LOL I know! I had a sticker from a few years back from the Say No To Waste campaign, clearly says NO free papers, NO leaflets, NO circulars.

So far only the little grumpy old man that delivers the free paper has taken any notice!!! I sometimes want to catch them shoving the carp through the door, swing the door open and point at the notice they've just ignored and shove the leaflet back at them..............course the next time they are likely to shove a ton through my door!

We left a hand written notice on my OH door of his empty house that he's trying to sell................they've totally ignored that, there was a sea of !!!!!! to wade through to get to the door that clearly tells all the unsavoury characters that no one is living there. icon13.gificon9.gif

I seriously wonder if the people delivering them can actually read. It's like the number of visitors at work that walk straight past the huge "strictly no admittance - please ring bell" sigh at work. Can they not read it or do they think it doesn't apply to them?

That's an idea actually - I might print one out and laminate it.
