Hi all
Quick question: does anyone have 100% cotton bedding? Was thinking of buying decent quality bedding and wondered whether it would be a nightmare to iron. Would I be better buying a poly-cotton mix? TIA
Back flying at home as my mum is back earlier than she thought.
Had the afternoon off so flying wise:
Grass cut
Some weeds pulled
Dying lavender plant dug up and potted, doubtful it will save it but it's worth a try
Bedroom dusted & hettyed
landing hettyed
LR & hall runner hettyed
3 sacks of garden waste taken to the dump
WM x 1, washing hung on line and brought in when dry
Plants watered
Visit to Mr S - took milk over to grandparents and made sure they were ok.
Went to vets to pick up LB's flea stuff
Before bed - cats to be defleaed
Goodnight all

Evening!
Have got loads done today. Since my last check-in I've sorted and ironed the dry stuff, all put away. Checked DD birthday present. Polished my shoes. Labeled DS uniform. Tidied kids rooms. Put case up in loft. S&S bathrooms. Had a shower and got ready for bed
So everywhere except garage has had some attention today.
Need to make room in DS wardrobe for uniform, and work out why he has two almost identical black coats for school... He can try them on and if they are the same size / weight then I think we'll give one away... Wondering if one is thicker than the other...
Tomorrow morning I want to:
Root / greys touch up of hair
Declutter eyebrows
Finish ironing school tees and put away
Sort kitchen junk drawer and corner cupboard
Wrap birthday pressie for party tomorrow
Try another fondant peppa pig princessI have walnut whips now to help get her "dress" right
ETA Deco, I have cotton sheets, I treated myself to some 400tc  but I don't iron them. Life is too short to iron bedding. Or pants. Or tea towels. Having said that, I get them out of the washer whilst still steaming and shake them really well so they don't tend to need it. I've had them just over a year and they are still as new. HTH XBossymoo

I have 100 percent cotton sheets and I love them.
I do iron them - but whilst slightly damp, and I fold them in half to iron....
NOTHING beats getting into a newly made bed with cotton bedding!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

Thank you both - that's what I thought. I'm looking forward to the crispness. What bedding do you both have - any particular make & where from?

You are making me miss my cotton candystripe inherited sheets...that tore...

I LOVED them.
I have cotton sheets and steam iron; iron while slightly damp.
I have bought DS a fitted sheet for Uni; my mum has bought him another (he just has a bottom sheet and duvet cover) .I hate fitted sheets but they are kind of self-oroning IYSWIM.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Evening all.
Hugs, and vibes as appropriate as I've forgotten everything I've read again.
Today has more or less been a loss. I have no idea where the morning went, but before I knew it, it was time to take DD to the opticians in Mr As. She has 20/20 vision and the blurriness she keep experiencing is down to tired eyes according to the optician. He said she shouldn't read for more than an hour without taking a break, so I think I need to get her a funky timer which she can set to help her remember to take a break. I use mine too often to let her use it
Rant alert
Then we needed to get some shopping and DD complained the entire way around Mr As. I swear we hadn't even been 2 minutes before she started "Are we done?" "Can we go?" "Have we finished yet?" and huffing and puffing and stropping. I had a list and yet I still came out without stuff as I was so aggravated by her. If she's like this at 12 I dread to think what the next 6ish years are going to be like.:mad::mad: Back to school cannot come soon enough as far as I am concerned. She hasn't even been over the doorstep this summer unless its been with me or her dad (except when she went away for the weekend and I took her to her grandparents and her dad brought her home), she refuses to contact any of her friends, won't go on her own to see my family who live within 20mins walk, won't stay home alone for more than 10minutes and doesn't want to go out on any trips anywhere. She's driving me more mad than she did last summer with her broken knee!
Rant over
So I've printed the list out and tomorrow she is up at 6.30am helping me to clean before she goes out with her dad (only because all the cleaning cloths are still damp from being washed and I refuse to put the TD on). Then while she is out I am going to sit on the sofa and watch my films/programs in peace or I might go on the w11 for a bit. When she gets home I'll finish labelling her uniform while watching stuff she can be around for and she can finish some of her craft projects which are half done and currently taking up the whole sideboard! Some have been in progress for nearly 4 years now!
Sunday should be a Christmas in August day, but we'll have to see how DDs behaviour is first.
ETA: I did remember to make an opticians appointment for myself. Apparently I should have gone last SeptemberI suspect I will be needing more new glasses. This time I think I'll get another set of frames though as the ones I have are very good for when I need to do close up stuff like sewing repairs but hopeless for reading or computer work which is what they're supposed to be for.
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Decog, we have cotton bedding for ourselves and we used to have poly cotton mix bedding for all the lodgers and at the chalet. For the past few years I've been turning all the bedding over to cotton and as long as you peg it out without creases and crumples in it, it will be fine without ironing it - just fold it as you get it off the line and stroke it flat as you do. I wish I liked ironing enough to iron it but I never get round to it.
Wilk0 have had a very affordable plain cotton bedding range this year that I've bought for the chalet. All the duvet covers are the same plain dark blue and all the bottom (fitted) sheets are white. (Makes life very much easier.) If the quality is as good as the single white fitted cotton sheets I bought five years ago, it's one of the few bargains around at the moment.Better is good enough.0
