TallGirl's getting back on track diary

Things ok here and I'm off camping this afternoon for the whole weekend I do hope the weather is kind to us and no rain.
Work has been busy but today so the last day of no paid supervisor and I have two volunteer supervisors on so I should be ok. Also manager is on a course so should be fine. She was really bad last night so stressed out and screaming at her phone as her husband kept ringing her and she did not answer. He wanted to know when she was going to be home. She works stupid hours and really she shouldn't. I know its none of my business but I think she needs to delegate more maybe once we get the three new paid posts in place it will look up.
DH still being good but who knows what he is like when I'm away will try not to think about it.
No mobile signal where we are going so will be nice and no internet so will catch up when I'm back on Sunday. There is talk of ouzo being drunk tonight I hope I can avoid it. Anyway must get dressed and head off.Save £12k in 25 No 49

.
Maybe I am just not cut out for this job, if I'm suppose to supervise 50% of the time with someone else I shall be fine but 90% as I'm doing now and sometimes on my own is just not working. Well next week we should be back to normal apart from the two people leaving.
.
Hi tallgirl
I remember you from earlier when you had your other job - sorry don't pop on this board a lot.
Re your commnet, I don't know you, but I doubt it's down to you not being able to do the job, but more to do with trying to do too much at once. When I get to that state, I find I do nothing properly. With luck things should even out; I would raise it with your manager that you have had to take on more than your usual workload and that is why things got a bit fraught.
If you are worried about your OH, it may be worth having a word with Al-anon, even if he isn't an alcoholic, he is still a heavy drinker and it will affect you as well.
Good luck0 -
Dear bugslet thank you for your reply some sound advice re work and home. I think this week will be much better now paid supervisor is back my job should only be 50% supervising not 90% and I will get better.
Looked at Al-anon and there are meetings here. Reading some of it it would have totally applied to me when DH was really drinking but now it's so much better.
Camping trip was fab did have a bit too much to drink the first night and talked about DH and his drinking. It was good to talk but I have not really come any further on any decisions. On the al-anon site it did say even if the person stop drinking it might not solve everything and I know I need to look at myself too. I really don't want to leave him and yesterday he was so nice he served me tea and cake when I got in a 5 pm ( been away since Friday morning). He did insist on having a glass of wine that evening (I stupidly brought a bottle back with me) but he poured it all in the sink after one taste says he's gone off wine totally don't like the taste, I think that is an important step just need to decide if I can live up with him drinking beers.
Anyway looked online for my banking and it's not that pretty £158 left in the black £250 still to come out payday 2 1/2 weeks away. Found out a paid member is staff has been taking out loads of payday loans using work email and PC. Unbelievable should know better working in a CAB.
Need to leave house in 20 min going to a meeting/training session so won't be going to work bar any emergencies. We are stupidly short staffed today so feel slightly guilty but hey ho I need this training.
Thanks everyone who reads here hope its not straying too far away form what MSE is all about.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi tall girl glad you had a good weekend camping, sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment, I hope things get easier for you soonMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

I don't think so tallgirl - when I'm stressed, I spend more!
Have you had a particularly expenisve month, or is it going to be difficult every month to balance?0 -

Thanks newgirly I do hope so however today has been pretty horrid work wise. Went on this training meeting thing that's only on every 6 months so it worth doing. However I knew we would only have 1 supervisor on am and poss no one pm although I had tried to get cover. What happens no cover all day so a aver had to do it all on her own which. Is almost impossible. Lots of text and phone calls but she let me stay at the meeting. Feel guilty but not sure what more I could have done other then not go at all.
Bugslet I am learning to live on my new much reduced salary and unfortunately when my family was over we did loads of things so had to borrow from a joint savings account which I have now paid paid. Also DH is a bit broke so cannot get him to pay for all the weekly shops plus he likes to eat out.
I do save £350 a month which is what I am really struggling with but it's in the 8% first direct account and if you stop saving monthly you don't get the interest. It ends in January and I think I shall just continue with the £50.
My old job at the council has come up when I had it there was 3 advisers now there is 7 one in each office which really wouldn't suit me also it's back to frontline clients and exactly the same pay I was on before I left so roughly £4000 p a more than I'm on now. Pension, sick pay flexi etc but I feel I should stick with this and get the experience I need management wise. If it had been a team leader job for my old job it Would have been different.
Off to the gym no going early as my back is bad. Going to a 50th birthday tomorrow after work so no gym then.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Yes for 8%, I would stick as well! Where else could you get a rate like that now?
I would suggest to DH that if he likes eating out, that it needs to be a bit less. I like eating out as well - could do it every night! - but finances don't permit.
Hope your back eases up, my exercise is basically walking the dogs and some dancing.0 -
Morning yes Bugslet we have cut back it's only Wetherspoons but it's £15 a time and still adds up.
Didn't get home until 8.30pm last night went to a drinks do for a new friends 50th well her hubby's 50th. It was nice but work was so busy and I'm starting to do the person who is leavings job. We have a supervisor meeting today which will be tough I had two in tears yesterday it's just a bit much.
Hopefully one will return soon from being ill and I have defused the other situation. Only got 4 applicants for each of the three part time jobs we advertised. Madness but still going to interview for two of them.
The paid member of staff who is holding us back the most in terms of making changes is telling everyone she is applying for the job I mention on here I used to have. I fully understand her it's not a step back for her and she's been with us a long long time. It's actually pretty good if she gets it as her and my manager don't really get on it's all complicated and a personal mess.
So if she goes as well we need 7 new people in, that means only three left incl manager so she will have her team around her. Going to be bumpy ride but it might be for the best.
My friend has asked me to help with her application form today during work time as she cannot stay late as she is going out for dinner at 7pm. I'm sorry that's rubbish but on the other hand she is helping my work out for free.
Physio tonight at 5pm which doesn't help but I am fed up with spending so long at work did 8.20 to 6.20 yesterday.
Sorry for the moaning things will get better.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Pfft! In a pathetic attempt at one up(wo)manship, I do 7.30 - 5.30, except when I work longer
. Mind you I do work for myself, hence skiving her this morning.
Actually your job is sounding pretty full-on, mine is hassle, but I'm kind of used to it and some days it can be quiet. I can't believe you have so few applicants; one minute you hear about 200 applicants for a job, next you hear a tale like yours.
I think we have cycles of good and bad in life, it's just a shame that it all seems to happen at once! Once you get new people in at work, it should settle down.0 -
Thanks Bugslet working for yourself must be satisfying but you need to be motivated I think I would find that too lonely. We got two more adverts for jobs out this week, one full time if someone wants both. I am now going to interview as part of the panel for the admin post. Quite nice to be asked but never done it before. We have three coming in and I am not hopeful about any of them. I think one would be ok but she wants full time and we did not think she was up to the other job we are interviewing for on Wednesday.
We went out after work (5.45pm) on a Friday is bad but it was nice as a ex vounteer and friend of my manager came along too. I feel we are moving forward but it's so busy and without proper admin support it will be hard. These next two jobs we really need good candidates as they have to hit the ground running.
Person who is causing hassle for us all has actually been ok, she is stirring things up but manager can now stand up to her sigh is a great step forward. Anyway enough about work.
Went out for brunch today bank still shut so couldn't put my expenses cheque in so just about into the red now. Really need to get a contract phone and so fed up with my 6 month old blackberry. Trade in for it is £7 how rubbish is that. I am not god with phones the confuse me but I love my IPad and iPod so definitely want an IPhone. No shops have the 4s and it's cheaper online but looking into it I am not sure I really want to get into the 24 month contract and they are only 8gb which means you can't have many apps. Might wait a bit to see if the price of the 5s drops a bit. I think it's also peer pressure as my three new friends through work all have iPhones.
Feel a bit rough today should really drag DH out to play golf just cannot be asked. Could also do some tidy up in garden. Maybe later.Save £12k in 25 No 49
