Wrens eat insects or spiders so not likely to go to seed feeders.

Oh, dear - I had plans to clean the windows outside this winter ;);) they are full of spider nests all the way round - wrens' food!

The eating rate has increased considerably over this month. Peanut feeders are getting emptied in one and a half days compared to three or four days in early autumn.

I've experimented with more home-made fat (lard) concoctions - this time I've used very small flower pots to put the fat into once mixed with mealworms. I line them first with cling film, set in the fridge and then take off the film and put them outside. They have been approached and looked at for a day or two before being eaten.

    Good morning!
I fear the crows that had been stealing my duck eggs have also decimated the wild bird population, I found several tiny egg shells on the other side of the fence :(
There seem to be hundreds of sparrows living in and from the elder tree! They are all born here under the roof and they made it without drowning in the duck ponds this year :)
For a few days I've been getting a lovely visitor when I have the window open in my room. A little Wren (this is for you, Fay!) comes and sits on the frame - I wonder if it sees a spider in my curtains , lol.
I suppose you might be able to attract them with meal worms? Not cheap though...

But...meal worms are on offer in Aldi at present! Also, for £5,99 I bought what looks like it could be 10 or more kg of wild bird seed. They also have feeders and peanuts...

Thats nature, crows are native and will not decimate any wild bird population.

I never see wrens on the feeders, always pottering about in the bushes. They seem to like the cover and are probably looking for insects there.

Likewise, the one that occupies our garden seems to nest in the ivy on the rear wall, and is occasionally spotted making its way through the ivy, or the low-lying creeper plants in the beds. Never on the feeders.

Does anyone know which birds will eat slugs (if any)?

A lovely moment in the garden today. I was tidying up when a gang of coal tits and long-tailed tits flew in to the feeders. They were busy squabbling and didn't see me so I stood still and they came down around me, a couple within 4 feet of me! I hadn't filled the suet pellets one which they like best but they stayed to check out the apple tree so I had a close look at them, so pretty!
