Any keen bird feeders out there?

More nut hatches today in one of the pear trees, they had peanuts from a neighbours feeder I think. As I have a spare peanut feeder I will add it in the pear tree as I don't have any feeders over that side of the garden.0

My new neighbours cut down all the trees in their garden today a very old beautiful holly tree over 60 years old. Use to have a robin singing in it most of the day hoping he comes back. At least he didn't do it in summer when a blackbird had a nest in it.I would like to be a glow-worm.
A glow-worm's never glum.
Its hard to be downhearted when the sun shines out your bum.0 -
One ground feeder on the way, shush don't tell the other half, LOL
Also decide to buy the Huge bag of seeds from B&M next time as it's 12kg for £4-99 which works out better value than the smaller 1.25kg for 99p bag
A lady at work has given me a Huge bag of windfall apples.
I've split this with my next door neighbour and she's stewed half and sent half off with her OH for his mum.
Now to decide the best way to put them out for the birds.
Neighbour says freeze them now and put them out when it's a bit colder and food is more scarce for the birds.0 -
I had 2 male green finches yesterday and 3 female on the feeders. Then later a goldfinch so they're starting to come for extra food now, yay.
I've put the Niger seed feeder out again, let's see if they eat them. They don't usually and the seeds rot very quickly. Fingers crossed they take to them now.0 -
The pair of goldfinches we had all summer (and their two babies) have totally disappeared, possibly because there is plenty of food for them in the hedgerows at the moment. They were our visitors so we will leave the niger seed feeder tube out for them in the hope they will eventually return. .
sadly we rarely see a greenfinch or a thrush here now. Both were plentiful when we moved here 30 years ago. And it is about three years since we heard our regular spring cuckoo. Even the swallows are fewer in number.0 -
The starlings are back with a vengence this week, huge flocks of them decending on my feeding station and squabbling noisily.0

Still got a flock of greenfinches, one starling appeared today along with the usual suspects. Goldfinches are feeding on the nyger seeds mostly.
I've not seen the red squirrel the last few days but reckon I miss his / her visits, I can't be at the utility room window all day!0 -
Flocks of starlings back here too. Descending in droves on our enormous rowan tree and squabbling fiercely over the berries. There are hundreds of bunches so why do they all want to eat from the same bunch!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Don't worry. The tree will probabky be stripped bare within 48 hours :rotfl:0 -
We have a wren again, back after his summer travels. So much noise from such a tiny bird!0
