I would really love a wren to visit, sadly never seen one around here.

I just checked out the wren song on the RSPB website and it is deeply connected to the Sunday walks of my childhood - had no idea! Lovely birds to have around, I hope a pair will settle near you soon, Fay.

That's a brilliant website - thanks for posting it.

I've cut back a branch of hydrangea that a cheeky starling was using to reach the peanut feeder. He can hang on for dear life like the others.

As it's still not very cold yet I'm only feeding peanuts, once the bad weather comes in I'll add fatballs again, sunflower hearts and mealworms.

I haven't caught the red squirrel again, perhaps he's moved on. Anyway, OH is going to install an PZT IP camera which arrived the other day, at least when he's next in the 'mood'.
  • Fat balls 50 for £3.99 in Poundstretcher this morning. They are in plastic sacks but I have a garage full of the tubs, so easily transferred! Sadly they are in nets but that's easily solved!

Even better travellingabuela, on Sunday I bought 150 fat balls in a box, un-netted for £9.99! They are from "Pet Hut" which is within Poundstretcher in Southport and I assume other Poundstretcher stores!

I still don't think I've got and wrens. Is there anything I can do to attract them?

A lot of b&q's large sunflower heart bags have been punctured several times over - I think the mice are probably getting to them.

Well that'#s great for me, because I got 3.3kg of the remaining sunflower hearts of this bag for just £1. Typically the lowest price you can get them is 500g for £1 in B&M bargains

I never see wrens on the feeders, Fay, always pottering about in the bushes. They seem to like the cover and are probably looking for insects there. Plenty to choose from as I rarely spray insecticides. Loads of spiders at this time of year too!
