Nearly a month gone by since my last post. I'm struggling on by, the debt is reducing very slowly now, but it is reducing, and the savings are creeping up. I really do believe I have now changed my ways, but the potential to fall back down the hole I think will always be there.

The debt doesn't hang over me like a dark cloud, it's simply an annoyance, like a buzzy fly!

I have more money to spare now, out goings are pared down to the minimum, car is run though my business, no interest to pay on the cards, and aware that I am not as careful with it as I was before, I'm also putting on weight, I think the 2 are related.

Not quite sure where to go from here, just keep plodding as some-one said. I wish I could regain the enthusiasm and motivation that saw me pay off £15,708 in the last 381 days

Right kick up the !!! time, may and June were pants, I haven't really kept track of what I've been spending, and have just seen that I've gone £24 overdrawn this month , which is silly as I have a savings pot of nearly £1000 now, bad planning.

I have paid off £656 in this time, but it's not good that I'm slacking.

I have been extremely un MSE and hired a cleaner and a gardener, life was getting me down, working full time, running my part time business and then trying to keep on top of everything else was not working for me. Cleaner is coming twice a month and did a marvelous job yesterday, really lifted my spirits to come home to a fresh house. I have budgeted £100 a month for both so I will review in 3 months and see if I feel it is money well spent.

    Jobs for today
    • Stock take the freezer and cupboards and meal plan for the week from what is in there. I seem to have gone back to the habit of full freezer and cupboards but can't find anything to eat!!
    • Get caught up with my business I've made some sales this week and have a load of quotes to follow up on
    Have a good weekend every-one x

  • Good to hear from you. If having paid help around the house keeps you in a more positive frame of mind, it's worth it. We don't always go as quickly as we would like but the debt is reducing so stick with it and keep posting.

Mission accomplished today. Lots of things in the freezer so I shouldn't have to spend too much on shopping tomorrow.
Tea was tuna pasta bake which was yummy, and there's enough left over for lunch tomorrow.
Work stuff all up to date, and the business bank account is looking quite healthy.
I will resume my spending diary NOW! Although today was a no spend day :A

Well I'm feeling a bit more motivated now. I can't believe how much money I've wasted in the last few months, I think I've been in a bit of a dark place since March. But I started my spending diary again today, just 60p on 2 cups of tea at work.

I won $1000 today, wowee, that was a bolt from the blue! I make little birthday videos that I put on Youtube, I loaded some of them to a site called 123greetings. I'm not allowed to promote my work on here, but I'm sure it's OK to mention 123 greetings as it's a free site that you can send ecards from, pretty cool really. Any way I only joined in May and I won contributor or the month for June and will get $1000 which is about £580. It took me ages to work out how to convert the files and get them uploaded, it was such a faff, but I'm so glad I persevered. That will bring my total under £5000 :j

Today I paid the last £94 off my Halifax card so only 2 debts left to go now.

I think my kids are now MSE converts. DD 'rescued' a very nice glass TV stand from next doors skip - she did ask them first. She has finished college now and asked for full time hours at maccers and enrolled on their apprenticeship scheme. DS had a job interview yesterday for a Saturday job at a bakers.

The bad news is that the friendly man that was doing my drive turns about to be a lazy git. He's done about half of it, but that's only with me constantly texting and calling to ask him where he is. He turns up around lunch time, does a couple of hours and then disappears for the day. I paid him £1500 up front, he should be on rogue traders, kicking my self for not paying it all straight off the debt. I have asked some-one else to quote for finishing the job so will see what they come up with, It's a hassle I could have done without, and it's one of the few times I wish I wasn't single, I've got no-one to 'send round' and sort it out lol.

Well looks like I'm back for the duration now, and looking forward to catching up with every-one elses diaries xx

  • Given you've no one to send round to get it sorted, have you tried tears or better still, tears to his other half if he has one

Great to see you on the up and that spending diary back in place. A debt gone as well, a lovely feeling having one less to pay out too.

Brilliant on the win, what a bonus. :T

Like INODs suggestions on the drive. Don't write it off just yet. Got any male friends or husbands of friends that would show their chivalrous side and pick up the baton and do something unlawful with it :rotfl: (joking of course).

Well done to the kids as well - yes, it does rub off and it's great lessons for them to take into adulthood. :) A worthy bi-product of debt busting :)

I don't think I could turn on the water works, I'm that angry with him I'm more likely to punch him! I still have £1200 left to pay him, so if I can get it finished for less than that I will be happy. The problem is I had arranged to pay £200 per month for the next 6 months, so I've actually only got £400 aside to do the job at the moment.

I phoned today to get rid of one of my credit cards which has a limit of £7000 but no balance, however they offered me interest free on all spends for 12 months so I kept it, not really sure why really as I can't see the advantage of using it, I will just be tempted to build up debt again.

I am using a credit card, but it's 1% cash back and I have cleared it in full every month so far.

Spent £25 on a second hand lawn mower today off facebook for my rented house, negotiated from £30 ;). Had to be done, he can't keep the garden tidy with out a lawn mower.

Nothing off the dept today, but I am expecting a topcahback payment to clear any day, and my winnings will be in the bank in the next 2 weeks.

Oh I forgot, I did receive a cheque for £57 today from a friend who owed me some money, must bank that. :)

Work from home so £10 saved commuting and homemade lasagne from the freezer for tea.
