Have anyone have had a boss who is a psychopath?

Not yet....nobody wants to lose their job.
(ETA: I think someone might just do that next week...starting to get to a boiling point)0 -
How many people had the wrong leg taken off in NHS hospitals in the last 12 months?
I dont know as Im not party to all the statistics where medical negligence is concerned. All I know is what I've said.
OP what is your job exactly? if your not happy could you get a transfer or could you go and work for an agency or something?0 -
I once told a big, big boss (extremely effective but an utter pig) that I wasn't his wife so he should watch his mouth. hHe watched his mouth thereafter.
Having been raised by a psycopath and a sociopath I recognise that am a delightful mixture of both! Psycopaths don't mess with people they can't manipulate, they become quite deferential. Give them like for like. Sociopaths will either ignore your existence or work out how to eliminate you entirely. Let them know you see them for what they are or expose them so they can't work their 'magic' on anyone else.0 -

What you said was...
"Theres lots of mistakes being made with people being left in agony/ the wrong leg taken off etc"
But you don't actually know this?!
I suspect that the number of people who actually have the wrong leg taken off compared to the total number of successful operations carried out by the NHS is a very very tiny fraction.0 -

It's not worth it OP, just get out as fast as you can. Don't try to help/take on/play games with this person.0 -

Hi dandelion, I won't go into details about the exact nature of of my job but I've had a long career in several areas, so I could try an agency. The thing is that I need a steady income, my family relies on me and we cannot go back on benefits or it will threaten my immigration status...I don't want to be stuck in a position where I don't have work for several months and have to live out of savings.
I got this job through an agency...and even that took a couple months!
The best bet is for to look for a move to another department within the NHS. But I'm playing this carefully.
On the bright side, there IS some help coming for me in this situation, so I'm going to give another couple months.0 -

I had to do that (well not in such strong words!) another boss at the same place what he said to me was unprofessional and rude and if he wanted to continue working with me, treat me with respect. We've been getting along great ever since!
However with this other one...my gut tells me that's not an option. This one is the type who would be vindictive. I have to agree with Southend1 on this on...it would end badly.0 -
It's the NHS - how many people get fired from there?
The best way for you all to deal with this is for ALL of you to put grievances in to HR for different things and all of you not to admit you know about each other's grievances. Although it would have been better done before the cost of tribunals was brought in.
Any HR dept getting more than 3 grievances about a manager will sit up and take notice. Esp if there is bullying and the potential for stress related sickness on the horizon.
Or - all of you use my usual tactic for bullies. Stop what you are doing, get a pencil out, slowly lick the end of the pencil, open your notebook, look at your watch and make a very long and detailed note of exactly what happened, when, what was said and who was present. If the bully asks what you are doing - you say 'I have been advised to make detailed notes of every instance of bullying' and say no more.Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -

Thats what my friend told me who works specifically with medical negligence cases. She has no reason to lie to me and wasnt saying it for effect in a big group or anything. Her office is very busy and thats all her section deal with. So there must be quite a lot of cases its not just one case now and again.
Indeed there are lots of solicitors dealing with medical negligence cases in every city. So there must be a fair bit going wrong to keep them all in buisness.0 -

People must decide for themselves the lengths the wish to go to in any given situation. I won't witness abuse without at least saying something whether that gets me a positive response from the victim or not. Others may 'prefer not to get involved' or outright lie. They make the choices they can live with and I make mine.
I can't see myself chained to railings or throwing myself under race horses but I am ever grateful to the women who did.
The OP will do as the OP will do and that is her choice.0
