That's a good enough assumption. However, once you've been doing the survey a while, you'll realise that the collections aren't always made when they should be!0 -
That may be how you do it, but I work on the basis that if they didn't care if it was a post box or post office they wouldn't bother specifying that in the first place.
Kazxybabes, if it says post at a post office, then the training instructions say using the post box outside is fine, and the posting options on the website allow you to specify that.
If you didn't notice the day on the postbox, is it usually correct? If so, I'd say that's what day I'd put. If it's one that is missing, there is a none of the above option.
You should not inconvenience yourself by doing the survey. So you can post any item in any post box at anytime during the day; irrespective of what TNS advise you to do.
I have been doing the survey for a number of years and TNS have never advised me that I am doing anything wrong.
Up to you but I suggest nobody should not be wasting their time or money by posting any items when it is not convenient for them; as indicated above.0 -

If you depart from the TNS planned schedule and record the actuals - then they are getting some data they can use, but not necessarily the data coverage they need. I'd expect them to have multiple panellists in each postcode area and on average they cover all possible collection types and times. If too many people decide not to follow the requests then it could possibly skew the data. Which means they would just put out more requests for the missing options (e.g. PO after midday).
I doubt TNS would ever have the time, skill, inclination to check whether a given panellist departed from the plan too often.
So I'd say - meet the schedule/plan as much as you can (after all, you have made an agreement with TNS to carry out these tasks in return for a form of remuneration) but not to the point where the inconvenience is out of proportion to the aforesaid remuneration. If it really does take so much time/effort/travel cost (could be significant in rural postcodes) then maybe you shouldn't stay on the panel?I need to think of something new here...0 -

TNS do not care when or where items are posted - so long as they are posted on the correct day and before last collection. I've actually checked this with them and they said its fine to post when and where you like (within your 2 letter postcode area) so long as those two conditions are met2020 Wins:

Thanks for confirming what I have stated.
I wonder if we will get any comments from NBLondon or elsien. Perhaps they both need more training to do the survey properly:rotfl::rotfl: ! and save themselves time and money. For info, if you do a search in this thread. you will find many posts stating the above.0 -
Happy to comment. I am doing the survey correctly, thank you for your concern, and going to the post office or post box makes no difference in terms of time or money as I can do either as part of the daily dog walk. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Now you can take your dog for a nice long walk to your nearest park and pop your post into the nearest post box to the park at anytime during the day; instead of wasting your (and your dog's) time making pointless and not needed trips to your post office. Your dog will love the exercise and you will be following TNS due process.

Hi Kazzybabes,
If it says post at post box the box outside the post office is a post box like any other so yes, you can! And yes, use the same box outside the post office when it says post office! Hope that makes sense!!kazzybabes wrote: »Thanks so much!! I have one more problem, I took a photo of the postbox detail but don't have the 'tablet' with the day on it in my photoI didn't realise I needed that too so have no idea what to do? there is no don't know option.
The post box outside my house doesn't have a "day tablet" on it so I record it as none of the above and when I use the box outside my post office I also record it as none of the above because it has numbers on its tablet rather than days. I assume that is because it is emptied more than once a day.
Hope that helps!
Happy posting!

P.S If you can't make it to the specified post box and/or the specified time on the schedule you can use any other box on your list and at the time convenient to you (provided its before last collection). I try my best to use the boxes (and times) that they ask me to, TNS are testing the whole postal system down to every post box on every street after all......but sometimes you just can't do it! x0
