I got my weekly pack of items to post today. included was a CD box
with a large piece of foam. This made the pack difficult for the postman to squeeze through my letterbox. just wondering how the panellists with small letterboxes get theirs when they are not at home. Do they have to go to the sorting office every week to pick them up?

sometimes that is indeed the case...although its not every week that there are large items to post and sometimes they do split them into 2 envelopes to make the posting packets easier for fitting through a standard letterbox....

I guess its all part of your commitment to being on the panel....I actually find the worst one being a card through the door telling me ive something to collect....and discovering its a cube sent by another panelist and I was out when it was attempted to be delivered!

There is a silver layer on the inside of the smart return envelopes to stop the transmission and picking up of data when sending back to the HQ....although the envelopes are not really big enough for a whole chicken you might be lucky and be able to squeeze a wing or 2 in!

dobbiesloan and LEJC....I never go the the sorting office to pick anything up. If you look at the delivery card posted through you letter box by your postie, it provides a web address where you can tell RM when to redeliver the item to you. Please also remember that if you can't post an item during that week, you just post it the same day the following week or the week after.

I also don't bother with Bird Road's instructions to post items at a PO or a post box. For me, they almost always go in my local post box, which is close to my home and I am able to walk to. If I need to post a cube or a DVD box, I will then just use the PO that is on my way to work; irrespective of the time that I am instructed to post it. Just be honest with your postal times and there won't be any probs.

    HTHs.

each to their own and if thats what works for you then carry on....however if you can post in a designated po/pb at the required time I believe that is always the preferred option.

I am aware of the option to get the item redelivered....but that does kind of restrict me to staying in for the arrival...my comments were not aimed specifcally at having to go to the sorting office but more the deflation that when ive collected the parcel its contents is a piece of foam rather than something more exciting....a freebie or a product to test for example!
It was more of a generic reply to the poster who also asked if others found their post didnt fit through their letterboxes...
It happens occaisionally, and I deal with it.

The online information is more up-to-date, so if that doesn't ask for a smart to be included then there is no need to include one.
  • Hello fellow postie people. I've just accepted an invitation to be on this panel, so no doubt I'll be asking a million questions very soon!

    Advice needed please
I have just received my first unadressed mail pack in ages
    and it has really changed
Now having to return the mail to them, but is it all unadressed
mail to be returned to them or only what royal mail delivers
    to me?
The white stick on labels I assume only go on the listed items to
be recognised that they will be listing
The answers on here make much more sense than some of the
stuff they send out, so thankyou for the help and advice you all
give out on here, it is appreciated
