So now, I chop up the lump of foam, and add a bit of bubble wrap for added realism when they decide to shake my parcel to check it, so that they'll be able to feel something moving inside.

The 1st and 2nd class cubes ( £3.20 and £2.80 postage ) are allowed a weight up to 1kg, so you could always put some random things in them as well as the foam and smart !!

    Hi

Why bother doing any of that? Wonder what the receiver of the cube makes of your efforts?

I had a cube to post today. The "samples of foam" reply got a raised eyebrow. The query about last collection time (no notice in display so I had to ask) got a knowing smile.

I always tell them it's something I've sold on eBay ... usually an ornament, or just some random thing I think of which would fit in the box!!! Occasionally, they've replied "doesn't seem very heavy" as they shake it !!

I've got some ornaments that I would like rid of - do you think I should include some of them ?:rotfl:

I love that idea, can imagine some people confused at not having a section on the website to tick next to a photo of the item they received in the box though! :D

The survey team don't want you to lie if asked, they want you to tell the post office it is a piece of foam.
See my post in this thread quoting the email they sent me on the topic:

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

Superglue or even a general-purpose adhesive would probably do the job but most people find that tape is the simplest solution.

I do not believe that there is any restriction on the type of tape. In my opinion, wide transparent tape probably looks nicer than brown parcel tape if, like me, you are concerned by aesthetics.

Incidentally, I received a roll of transparent tape as part of the survey a few months ago and I have not exhausted this yet.

I have to post a medium box tomorrow at the post office with an APL. Its the first time I've had to do an APL, do I have to ask specifically for it or just say I want to send the parcel first class. Just worried in case they put stamps on instead but don't want to look suspicious.

    Thanks

    Hi

No, they'll ask if you want it 1st or 2nd class and what's in it. Just say, foam sample.
