Thanks, just wanted to check as the last few I had to post them all back but no sign of a pack this time.
  • hi
im due to start this on tues but totally confused. i presume the cardboard bits wrapped in clear plastic are the smarts?

the introduction pack says to post the smarts in the envelope but the pack with the smarts that came after the intro pack says to retain them....anyone tell which is right?

also how do i create an account with royalmailgroupdotcom/customers/quality-service to enter my smart numbers?

    thanks

When you signed up you used your e-mail address and gave them a password, use them. If you can not remember the password there is a link.

"Retain" as in not throw away. All the cardboard ones have the same serial as they are training SMARTS and not live.

the introduction pack says to post the smarts in the envelope (you post the smarts in allocated envelopes - to West Bromwich when in training) but the pack with the smarts that came after the intro pack says to retain them..(keep them until you need to use them in an envelope) ..anyone tell which is right? (so both statements are correct - you don't keep them forever but just until you need to use them in something you are mailing out)

also how do i create an account with royalmailgroupdotcom/customers/quality-service to enter my smart numbers? You don't. That's a Royal Mail website. You need to use the account you have with TNS.

    thanks

  • thanks molerat and anamen think i get it now
  • I've just had an email to say I am back on the survey from the end of October after my six months break.

Now I vaguely remember reading a letter/email about collection times and time slots for posting changing from the survey people but, of course, I can't find the letter now. I'm due to start a new job soon which is nowhere near a Post Office although I can post at a post office before and after work.

What I am asking is are the time slots still "before 10am", "between 10am and 1pm" and "after 1pm". If they are I think I will have to hand in my resignation after several happy years as posting at a post office between 10am and 1pm is going to be impossible!

its not set times anymore. its all changed to before last collection
Email received from TNS regarding the post boxes that are changing the last collection time to early in the morning:

    Important Updates:

Post box last collection times are changing..
Royal Mail will shortly be changing the last collection time of approximately one third of post boxes. The last collection time for these boxes is being brought forward to 9am Monday to Friday and 7am on Saturday. These earlier collections will now be made as part of the postman or woman’s delivery round.
How will this affect the survey?
For postings due to be made from the 15th September, we have amended the posting schedules to take account of this change. The column headed “Time to post item” previously stated three different time bands in which to post any test item in a post box, or the cube and medium parcel over the counter at a Post Office. This will now be altered to say “Before last collection”. This change means that any test item can now be posted at any time during the day before the last collection time.
Royal Mail has started putting notices on those post boxes that will be changing their last collection time. However, please continue to use the last collection time as displayed on the faceplate rather than the times on the notices when entering details of your sent items and post boxes on the website.

What do I do if I cannot post an item before the last collection time?
After this change you may find that you are unable to post an item before the last collection due to a change to the last collection time of your local post box. If this happens, please post the item on the scheduled date, but when carrying out the data entry, answer ‘No’ to the question, ‘Was this item posted before the Last Collection Time?’ and then record the actual time of posting.
Please see below for instructions that illustrate how to enter an item posted after the final collection time of a post box.
In this example we will use the post box ‘Masefield Avenue Borehamwood’ for an item posted at 12pm, which is after the last collection time.
    GetInline.aspx?messageid=58c09f0c-39c4-11e4-a8fe-002264c248f2&attindex=3&cp=-1&attdepth=3&imgsrc=cid%3apop1jpg.jpg&cid=2376ebf2b5b164a4&blob=M3xwb3AxanBnLmpwZ3xpbWFnZS9naWY_3d&hm__login=nikki.hayes&hm__domain=hotmail.co.uk&ip=10.111.8.8&d=d3442&mf=4&hm__ts=Thu%2c%2011%20Sep%202014%2015%3a50%3a05%20GMT&st=nikki.hayes%25hotmail.co.uk%407&hm__ha=01_d774bba6c96cb73d07baa6b3de55a6a13707123eeaac6033857369f3918ed12d&oneredir=1
Firstly, you will need to agree that the final collection time displayed is correct. If the final collection time is not correct, please choose the option “I disagree with the final collection time shown for this day” and follow the prompts.

    GetInline.aspx?messageid=58c09f0c-39c4-11e4-a8fe-002264c248f2&attindex=4&cp=-1&attdepth=4&imgsrc=cid%3apop2jpg.jpg&cid=2376ebf2b5b164a4&blob=NHxwb3AyanBnLmpwZ3xpbWFnZS9naWY_3d&hm__login=nikki.hayes&hm__domain=hotmail.co.uk&ip=10.111.8.8&d=d3442&mf=4&hm__ts=Thu%2c%2011%20Sep%202014%2015%3a50%3a05%20GMT&st=nikki.hayes%25hotmail.co.uk%407&hm__ha=01_6d0dea9caafa464b7ed2741c92f0411ce57ec7af5931ac8db1bd9c2dd41d7588&oneredir=1
If the item has missed its final collection, you will then need to select the ‘No’ option to this question.

    GetInline.aspx?messageid=58c09f0c-39c4-11e4-a8fe-002264c248f2&attindex=5&cp=-1&attdepth=5&imgsrc=cid%3apop3jpg.jpg&cid=2376ebf2b5b164a4&blob=NXxwb3AzanBnLmpwZ3xpbWFnZS9naWY_3d&hm__login=nikki.hayes&hm__domain=hotmail.co.uk&ip=10.111.8.8&d=d3442&mf=4&hm__ts=Thu%2c%2011%20Sep%202014%2015%3a50%3a05%20GMT&st=nikki.hayes%25hotmail.co.uk%407&hm__ha=01_457c99881c1cbe8c16ad35d1eb477abaf1b1a95a0d3e29af34755612f1b2c0f7&oneredir=1
The website will then ask you to confirm the time in which you have posted the item. This will complete the entry for the allocated item.
    Regards,

I took a cube today, whats in it asked the postmaster.Lacky bands i said:D.The look on his face:rotfl:.Well i was'nt lying.Along with a Smart and a lump of foam and a sheet of paper with an R number on.

I always tell them it's something I've sold on eBay ... usually an ornament, or just some random thing I think of which would fit in the box!!! Occasionally, they've replied "doesn't seem very heavy" as they shake it !!

So now, I chop up the lump of foam, and add a bit of bubble wrap for added realism when they decide to shake my parcel to check it, so that they'll be able to feel something moving inside.

The 1st and 2nd class cubes ( £3.20 and £2.80 postage ) are allowed a weight up to 1kg, so you could always put some random things in them as well as the foam and smart !!
