Just had a call from DWP surprised to say the least as it is Sunday. The man informed me that is was just a courtesy call but that a decision has just been made and a letter is being sent out. I asked him what the decision was and he said he was unable to tell me. I have now convinced myself that it is going to be bad news as others have been told on the phone. This was a phone call I could have done without as I now feel really ill and stressed I would rather have not known a decision had been made and wait for the letter. If it is bad news I don`t think I have got the strength to fight anymore.0

I'm not sure how beneficial courtesy calls are especially if they're not going to give any more information about their decision, I understand how you will have convinced yourself it's bad news as a result. I agree that if they're not going to tell you anything it's preferable to wait to receive the letter. I wonder if anybody in authority has any idea how stressful the waiting is? The whole process seems to be full of waiting with raised and then dashed expectations. My condition has definitely been affected by it. I had my f2f two weeks ago after waiting over 9 months. I'm now wondering when I should phone up to see how far they've got with the auditing process. I'm in a dilemma about phoning, I'm not sure I could cope if they start passing me from pillar to post again.0 -

I have also heard that if its rejected they usually phone and tell you this too, maybe its different in different areas, so maybe by him not saying, no news is still good news0 -
Hi
all I know that pips is a pain in the **** and I waited 42 weeks and got what I think was a fair decision.
However as a word of hope to everyone else it is as I said before a Passport to other things
My wife has just been awarded carers allowance on the basis of pips and they back dated it!!!!!
My other benefits have also increased with no action from me on the basis of a pips award.
Ok my Stress is gone and I am now nearly solvent abd I can see the logic of not repeating forms and interviews- so I have changed my view a bit. PIPS does work to me it's just the time scale re ATHOS that was the bug bear.
So hang in there people the light at the end of the tunnel does arrive!!!

That's part of the problem! As a gateway benefit claimants rely on PIP applications being managed far more quickly to access other benefits including carer's allowance, the blue badge scheme and disabled rail cards. Small things but they make coping with chronic illness and disabilities easier. It's what they're all there for after all. And remember ATOS and capita are doing the government's work, until that changes I can't see any improvement in how claims are managed, especially as long as IDS and the DWP believe everything they do is for our benefit. They want to see what it's like from this side.0 -
FINALLY rang dwp today they said hubby has been awarded standard care and mobility. Funny thing is though she said decision was made thur 22nd but when i rang Fri 23rd they said they were still waiting for query from Atos.0

Well just made my call to DWP to check that the call I had on Sunday was genuine. It turns out it was and she told me the decision had been made on Sunday. She the told me I have been awarded enhanced for both sections. I think I am in shock. Can`t believe it is finally over.0

nice to see decisions are finally being made for people, Capita got 11 days left to contact me with regard to my claim and the complaint I made, really didnt want to complain but felt I was left with no choice after the phonecalls I made week before last ( being told all had been sent to dwp on 14th may, then being told ten minutes later I shouldn't have been told that its still in their system) at least though I suppose by them doing an investigation it has to be looked at some way or another lol, will keep you updated as to what happens next, just in case anyone else having the same problems with Capita as myself0
