Got the automated letter today - was told it would be 3 weeks it's not almost four I think.
Is anyone here claiming for Mental health reasons?

My husband applied for mental health reasons in January - in the claim form it was stated that a home visit would be necessary. In March our GP contacted us to say ATOS had been in touch and agreed that he could carry out the assessment as they couldn't spare anyone to do a home visit.

We received the decision with full back-pay at the start of this month. An additional bonus was that he got a 4 year award when we thought it might only be 12 months.

This was a brand new PIP claim (he'd never applied for DLA) and I was expecting him to be turned down completely as our experience with ESA made us believe that mental health claims were pretty much ignored. We didn't get exactly what we thought the award should be but the stress of the process was hard enough on my husband so we're not appealing. Our GP had given them all the correct information but the decision maker managed to weasel around a few things.

My DLA award expires in December and I am dreading my PIP claim :( I'll have to attend an assessment centre with someone who has no clue about the complexities of my illness and is unlikely to understand anything I say.

I still can't find out for definite whether your money stops completely between end of DLA and the decision for PIP. Some people say it carries on at DLA rate until your PIP decision is made but others say they got nothing during the process.
