Have to agree my family have noticed the effect the stress has ahd on me over the past 40 weeks waiting for a decision.
I can fully understand how people begin to wonder if it's worth the trouble and stress. OK money is important and necessary but if it effects your health ???

Hi
don't want to rain on your parade but I was told that 3 weeks ago!!!
that being said at least it's in the hands of the DWP rather than Atos
I'll give them till the end of this week and then start to call

I do feel for the people who give up or just accept lower rates especially for mental health issues, the stress alone can push people over the edgemortgage free by christmas 2014 owed £5,000, jan 2014 £4,170, £4,060, feb £3,818 march £3,399 30% of the way there woohoo
If you don't think you can go on look back and see how far you've come0 -
I've been waiting 7 1/2 months now and still heared nothing back from ATOS about my PIP claim, I know its been handed over to them from DWP but each time I have called they say their waiting for a free appointment!
My ESA gets cut end of April (no longer entitled as credit runs out) leaving us with zero income ok we do get £74 a week Tax Credits for my husband being Self Employed but again we will have to renew our Tax Credit application soon so theres no stability there either. Hate the judgement too by family and friends just cos they cant see a physical injury although I have a condition and now its impacting on my mental health too as down depressed or as some think just lazy! Its not just a case of getting too used to having the money as I often get told. I just dont know how to cope and whats going to happen without money!
All the best to everybody.Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

Phone every few days for an appointment and offer to go anywhere else you can get to. That worked for me, after waiting 4 months, I got a cancellation0 -
Hi
anticipating the worst here but..
If an award is given at a low level and you appeal in order to get the higher award will they pay at the lower level until a decision is reached or is all payment stopped ?
This would be a factor for me as funds are running ok they have run out
thanks

Update to my claim, initial claim 15th October, Assessment with Capita 7th February 2014, just rang both DWP and Capita as I have heard nothing at all, so thought I would ring, this is my first contact with them since assessment, DWP tells me the information is still with Capita, so I rung Capita and have been told that my report is waiting to be written up it will then pass to a senior HP for something, then it will be forwarded onto DWP, I asked do you have any time scale with regards to how long it will take and was told no there is no timescale, so I guess I still got a long wait left.0

Lets put it this way, OH put in claim at the end of June, the report went to DWP on the 24th Feb, DWP say they received it on 3/4 March (which means it was carried by an ant) and OH is still waiting for a decision.
We are now very heavily in debt, I am in the process of being made redundant, OH's pain has increased all in all the process is broken.0 -

If you appeal, then several things happen.
Firstly, a mandatory reconsideration will occur - at this point, your award may be reconsidered and stopped, or it may be granted and you awarded a higher award.
If the reconsideration is refused, but your award is not changed, you can then appeal this decision to an independant tribunal.
This may take several months, but eventually if you win you will get backpayments back to the time of the original appeal.
If you lose and your original award is not changed, then nothing happens.
If you lose and your original award is removed, then your DLA stops, and you do not have to pay anything back. (unless there is proof that there was fraud happening).0
