Won my appeal yesterday after only 5 minutes in the room with the panel  :T

They didn't ask me any questions. I used the benefits and work website for my mandatory reconsideration letter and they read that and the judge said its one of the best letters he has ever read

The system is flawed. I scored 0 points on both my original decision and mandatory reconsideration, and was awarded 25 yesterday.

when should I expect to receive the back payment? They emailed the decision to the DWP yesterday afternoon.

Wow- that's fab !! I'm very tempted to appeal mine - I'm just so anxious I'm not sure I could go through the procedure. PIP just doesn't seem to work for mental health issues

I'm still waiting for MR outcome since 28th April. Phoned today as they previously said it would take up to 8 weeks which would be 24th June. Today they said 11 weeks.
As advised earlier in the thread, I emailed my MP to ask for help on 10th June, yet to receive a reply. I have emailed him again today.
If I am turned down i intend to appeal so I just want the decision made and the whole thing over with.

You should get the money quite quickly. I got my award letter on Saturday and the back money owed was paid into my account yesterday.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............

Definitely appeal! Mine is for mental health issues as well
  • My mam's is for mental health aswell, she had her assessment last Tuesday (16th), the Support Worker took her in the car and left me a note when I got back saying that the PIP said she will get this benefit, not sure how much and she should hear in 2 - 3 weeks! It's been just over a week now but she's hoping that she gets a letter either tomorrow or Saturday and she's hoping that she gets the backdated money next week! She should get Enhanced Daily Living and her claim is at least 6 months old so that should be about 2k she gets backdated! I will be able to put in for Carer's Allowance aswell once she gets the award letter through the post so hopefully any day now! She is just so happy that she is finally getting PIP after 2 years since I put the claim in for her

I see the DWP have made an amendment to the timescale today. Some more areas will start to be transferred from 13 July.

Ive just done the online transfer tool and got this result.
. Independence Payment (PIP) affects you
Some people in England, Scotland and Wales have been invited to claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
If you’re still getting Disability Living Allowance, when you’ll be invited to claim PIP depends on:

    when your DLA ends
    your postcode area
if your care and mobility needs change

Your DLA ends before September 2017

You’ll be told 20 weeks before your DLA ends and invited to claim PIP in most areas of England, Scotland and Wales.

Contact the Disability Benefits helpline if your DLA payment is due to end in less than 28 days and you haven’t received a letter about making a new claim. Your payment may stop if you don’t.

You’ll also be invited to claim PIP if you tell the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that your care or mobility needs have changed.

In the following areas you’ll be asked to claim PIP from 27 July 2015:

    AL (St Albans)
    CT (Canterbury)
    EN (Enfield)
    HA (Harrow)
    HS (Hebrides)
    KT (Kingston)
    KW (Kirkwall)
    ME (Maidstone)
    N (London North)
    NW (London North West)
    SL (Slough)
    SM (Sutton)
    TN (Tonbridge)
    TW (Twickenham)
    UB (Uxbridge)
    W (London West)
    WD (Watford)
    ZE (Lerwick)

Your DLA ends after September 2017 or DLA awards with no end date

Some people will be invited to claim PIP from 13 July 2015 if you live in the following areas:

    Blackburn (BB)
    Bolton (BL)
    Derby (DE)
    Leicester (LE)
    Manchester (M)
    Oldham (OL)
    Preston (PR)
    Stoke (ST)
    Warrington (WA)
    Wigan (WN)
This includes if you have an indefinite or long-term awards of DLA.

You can be contacted anytime between 13 July 2015 and 30 September 2017. Not everyone in these postcode areas will be contacted to claim PIP right away.

You’ll continue to get DLA until DWP writes to you about when it will end.

So, my DLA ends 11/01/16 and I live in the OL area.

So do I fall into the first category and will be asked to apply 20 weeks before the end date as my award ends before September 2017, or will I be invited from 13 July as I live in the OL area, or is that only if the award was due to run until after September 2017.

    Any advice appreciated.

The 20 weeks only applies for DLA renewals. I am unsure what the lead-time for PIP is.
Sometime between 13th July and late October seems likely.
They have the power to send the form on the day the DLA award ends, and simply extend the DLA award till the PIP decision comes through. Though again, they have in some cases been sending out PIP renewals a year early.
If this will be exercised would depend on if there is a backlog I suspect.

    We can't tell.
Sometime between next month, and February.
I have not properly looked at the statistics.
I'd have liked to analyse the average duration of awards, and worked out how many are likely to be ending shortly, and compared that to the rate at which they're making decisions over and above the 'new claim' rate.

However, based on rough numbers, the 'late 2017' target is going to be challenging - they need to increase decision rate by about a third.

But it's quite probable you'll get called in before Feb 2017 - as at that time, even on fairly pessimistic assumptions well over half of people will have been migrated.
