Hi, PIP is all about how the condition affects your daily life and not about the condition itself. I can't tell you what your chances are because i have no idea what difficulties you have. Take extra evidence with you if possible, letters from consultants, GP, OT and a list of all current medication. Be yourself. There's a lot of people that think it's a medical but it's not it's an assessment to find out what you can and can't do in daily life. Good luck.

Yes sorry I meant to say assessment for PIP. I had a WCA the other week for ESA which is why I got confused. Thanks

hi lilo915 I had a an assesment for pip in aug got my decision a week later the lady was lovely,and honest on her report there really is nothing to worry about also I am on esa, not had a assesment for that yet how did it go? what can I expect? how long did it take to get an assesment? took 8 mths with pip,,and who was it done by thanks x

Hi, the back log for ESA assessments is longer than PIP and people are waiting well over 1 year. Who ever did your assessment for PIP will more than likely do your assessment for ESA. ATOS did mine for both because they are the ones that deal with my area.

Thank you for your reply my conditions have took over my life I go in to get one thing fixed and come out with something else wrong I don't go out because of falls I use a walking stick around house on bad days is this what they just want to know i have to take change of clothes if and when I go out due to bladder I have to self catheterise but my bladder just opens with out warning and the same with my bowel I am so embarrassed and worried this might happen tomorrow at assessment xxxx

That gives me a little more hope! My ESA assessment was also with ATOS and went really well. I don't know if I had a sympathetic lady or if it just wasn't as daunting as I had prepared myself for it to be. It is very similar to the PIP assessment where you're asked about a typical day etc. but the descriptors on which points are scored are a little different to PIP. Check out Sense website and type ESA in their search bar. A list of the descriptors should come up. I got decision about 2 weeks later put into support group. However I applied last October and got my WCA end of September so was a very long wait. I think it depends where you live though, I only waited 5 months for pip assessment. When did you apply for ESA?

Hi Chabba. I had an embarrassing time at both my ESA and PIP assessments with incontinence problems, had to go to the toilet multiple times. If anything I think it actually aided my claim because the assessor had physical proof of how my incontinence affects me, not just my word for it. So try not to worry about it too much

hi lilo915 I will check out the website thanks, I applied in july, so have a wait then lol if atos do it I cant understand why they just dont use the same paperwork seems crazy not to especially when so many ppl are waiting,it would cut waiting times dramatically, does anyone know what happens of it takes more than 12 mths as I am on cb and only lasts 52 weeks x

The reason they don't use the same paperwork is because PIP and ESA are completely different. People claim PIP and work but those who claim ESA don't work. Hopefully for you it won't take longer than 52 weeks because if it does then your ESA will stop. If you have your assessment before it's due to end and you're put into the support group then it will continue but if you're put into the work related group your ESA wil also stop.
