Hi all, in process of Mandatory Reconsideration on behalf of my daughter and cant seem to find any recounts of anyone who has gone through it for PIP. Does anyone know of anyone who has, how long it took and if they were successful. I was told by someone recently that is is nigh impossible to get a decision overturned so you can imagine I felt a bit hopeless. Anyone know anything for sure. Can only seem to find recounts from JSA sanctions and ESA declines not declined PIP claims. Anyone know anything?

Due to the delays in processing claims I don't think there's that many been done. Plus whilst claimants have timescales the decision makers don't and the decision makers are probably the same people under pressure to process the mountain of outstanding new claims.

The youreable site has some examples of people still waiting for decisions. I don't think it's impossible to get decisions overturned as I read somewhere that about 50% are successful, I imagine that this isn't being shouted from the roof tops though.

I've put a link to people waiting like you. There's lots of tips from a someone called Flymo he puts stickies up going through the whole PIP process. Might be useful. Hope so, can only imagine how stressed and anxious you're feeling.

Hi kken, there are quite a few earlier posts in this thread of people having to go through mandatory consideration - I know that there a rather a lot to go through - but quite a few had very favourable results. It is worth going back over some of the older posts to see what others have said about the process. Good Luck

Hi and thanks for the replies. I think you guys are right in that there havent been too many that have gone through so difficult to get some kind of idea. I did notice Mrs Ryans case which got a response in about a month and not a favourable one but hopefully she will get it sorted at appeal, certainly deserves it from where I am standing. I was told 8-9 weeks and it has only been 4 weeks today but that does make it 55 (seriously!!!) weeks from first application for PIP. I have come to the conclusion that as this was the very first benefits claim I or any of my family have ever made that they turned it down hoping that we would just go away. Well, not going to. My daughter deserves and really needs the award and I am going right to the end of the road for her. Hopefully if it eventually gets awarded, we can finance some proper care for her at a specialist OCD facility. Our local mental health care is willing but so understaffed and does not have specialist knowledge. All mental health patients are lumped together regardless of needs which as you can imagine are vastly different from one person to the next but we have found a specialist clinic for OCD about 20 miles away which has had very good results. True OCD is such a horrendous and disabling condition and so far removed from a lot of peoples perception of it as people being neat freaks. I invited the DWP to come live with us for a week and then say she doesnt meet the criteria. I would actually have them stay!:)

Congratulations! I hope your money comes through quickly.

Mine came through last Monday. My condition has been pretty bad for the past week so not able to post sooner.

My MP must have made a difference, I received an email from them last week with an attached reply they'd got from DWP. They say they're trying to amend the IT system so that automatic award letters with a payment date aren't sent out.

The DWP email also suggested that the task request to the manager hadn't gone through (another IT glitch?) and that they were sorry I hadn't got the call backs. Usually the request to release the money is done straight away so yours may be nice and quick.

I too found this forum helpful. To those that started the thread and the others that have added to it, thank you, it made such a difference to know I wasn't alone. In the last week I've realised how much my PIP claim had taken over my life, I'm hoping that now I can leave it all behind and concentrate on improving my condition. I know I'm likely to live with it in one form or another, but maybe, with less stress I can move forward rather than backward.

My award is to November 2015, I really hope the renewals procedure is more straight forward!

    Hi Susie

I am going through the same thing as yourself to as regards with back payment!!!

Been waiting for the powers that be to release my payment with getting awarded 48 weeks at higher on both due to my problems and condition. Letter of award said it would be in my account on the 13th to then find out....................................................

Though no fault of my own because back pay being more than 5k I have to yet again jump through hoops waiting for it to be Higher checked to release what I have been awarded! So the longer you have to wait the worse it gets! yet another Que now

The exact same thing as your posts and you have talked about is what i'm going through...... still was a little refreshing knowing it was just not myself lol!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

    Good luck to everyone else!

Hi, i'm new here and have been reading through a lot of the previous posts and read your story. Have you thought about getting intouch with your local MP? They can often help get a decision quicker. I really hope the result will be a positive one for you and your daughter.

Tazza that's so disappointing, I was told that they were going to sort this out - this is the quote from the email the DWP sent to my mp after I had asked them to get involved

'I am sorry that Ms p did not receive her payment on the date stated in her notification letter this is due to an IT issue that is currently being treated as a matter of urgency to stop it happening on other peoples claims.' Seems they've not got very far.

I'm glad that I shared my experience so you could see it's not personal just a chaotic system.

The email also said this: 'When a payment is issued over £5000 this generates a Management Check which are dealt with straight away so that the money will be issued, unfortunately the system did not generate this task.' Might be worth asking them to check that the system has generated the task as there's evidence that it sometimes doesn't. I think it was showing on the system it had been generated but in reality it was just stuck in the ether. Once it has been generated they still claim not to be able to speed up the process and it takes a number of days to clear, can't remember if it was 3 or 5.

Hope your journey ends soon. I'm still finding it astounding how much the process affected me.
