    This is not quite true.
People who are terminally ill seem to be having their claims processed without (much) delay.
There have been several people on here who've reported that they have had a PIP claim complete.

    'Almost nobody' - I'd agree.

My husband claimed under the special rules (he has terminal cancer with a prognosis of three months) on October 17th. I have since chased them three times and the last time a week ago, I told them it was highly likely that he would die before they made a decision. They have received the DS1500 from his palliative nurse so any delay is theirs and not ours.

It's a disgrace. As it happens, we're not in a position to be sweating on the money but they don't know that.

I asked what would happen if he did die before a decision was made and was told that 'they would look at possibly paying the claim anyway'. That's alright then. :(

Hi All, letter came this morning. I got enhanced care rate until December 2015. Yahoo!! It took a long time but at least i can relax for a bit now. Keep going folks and dont hesitate in contacting your MP when things are taking too long. THanks for all your support:rotfl::j:beer:

Obviously 5 months seems to be the norm then - so glad to hear that you have finally heard delilahcaz. Hopefully they are getting the hang of these assessments finally. Unfortunately mine is still sitting in the ATOS audit pile where it appears to have sat for the last 6 weeks - with the usual 'there is no time limit on how long this will take' robot answer. I have now got my MP involved - so hopefully I will hear soon.

I am disgusted with the way they are treating everybody. You have far more important things going on in your life, and should not have to spend a minute of your precious time with your husband on the phone trying to do the DWP's job for them. I sincerely hope that they hurry up and you get a positive response as soon as possible. Thinking of you.

I chased them again today. I was told it was with a Case Manager but they had no timescale they could give me.

I emailed my MP this morning.

Well my week has been and I called again and still nothing has happened. ho hum
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j
  • Under the old DLA system, a terminal ill case took 8-10days to get a decision. Under the PIP system the DWP admit that it takes 8-10 weeks for a terminally ill person to get a decision but it is fast-tracked.
    Fast-tracked by what? A snail?
Disabled people are being treated in the most appalling manner in this country.
I hope you all get your decisions soon and remember use your MP to fight your corner. The more this is highlighted the more chance that something will be done

I've had an email from my MP telling me that he will be asking Esther McVey about my husband's case and will get back to me. I'll keep you all posted.

I was kind of hoping that you had heard by now, to at least give me some faith in the system. To say I am disappointed is to put it mildly. I have phone DWP and ATOS today to be told I am still in the audit pile, but it has been looked at twice in the last week. Have spoken to my therapist and GP, thinking it might be a hold up from them posting further paperwork, on top of what we all originally sent, and they have not even had a letter requesting information from either company. So my paperwork is still at ATOS where it has now been for 14 weeks, and my assessment was done nearly 9 weeks ago. MP is trying but hitting brick wall as well. Usual phrase "there is no time scale for this process". Now been waiting 19 weeks. That is my moan now over. I really hope that you hear something positive very soon Pimento, my fingers are crossed for you, but I am losing all hope of compassion existing in the people that are managing these systems. Good Luck.

Pimento they seem to think the fact that if your entitled it will be paid in 5 6 months time is fine.
