hi to everyone on this site.i,m a new user.
I live in the midlands and had a assessment done on the 26th september with a guy from capita.my claim first went in on the 28th june.this was a home assessment.have telephoned capita on 08081788114 every week to see why it is taking so long for them to get the report sent to the dwp.all you get is they cant give any timescales.this is now 21 weeks since putting my claim in.the answer i got from capita yesterday was my case was being peer reviewed(whatever that means) and was at final stage just being checked over and would not be much longer before going to dwp.has anyone got any idea how much longer??i would also point out that the guy from capita was ok.he actually told me that i would get enhanced rate for both parts.capita have contacted my gp but not hospital consultant for more details.my problem is osteperosis, avascular necrosis.osteoarthritis and cam impingment in both hips awaiting surgery in the next 8 weeks or so.i do hope you guys can give me some helpful info.thanx

Hi rrobboj35, I submitted my claim in mid July and had my assessment 30th Sept by ATOS. As of a week ago my claim is still undergoing the 'Audit' procedure - and has been for the last three weeks. DWP have told me that it will be at least another 3-5 weeks once they receive it until a decision is made, because it is all being done in date order - both ATOS and CAPITA are not supposed to have any roll in the final decision - so be aware that the DWP could give an entirely different response to what you have got from CAPITA. A few people have recently just started to get results after an average 5 month wait - hopefully you, myself and a few other forum members will start hearing very soon. I have been in touch with my MP regarding the waiting times, and she is looking into it. Good Luck.
  • Hi cazz 2013,lets hope we get sorted before Santa comes.lol DWP told me it would take around a week to a fortnight once they receive it.If you ask me the right hand dont know what the left one is doing.KEEP SMILING.JUST REMEMBER YOUR OLDER THAN YESTERDAY BUT YOUNGER THAN TOMORROW.Keep posting and keep me updated. Many thanx.
  • Well the good old DWP managed to tell my MP porkie pies too. They didnt contact me on Monday or Tuesday and ive not heard a thing from them all week. (for those that dont know, I applied 19th of June had my assessment 6th August). Phoned my case worker at my MP's office earlier today and she is contacting DWP again and will phone me in the next couple of hours once she has spoken to them.

Hope you get some positive news soon. Fingers and toes crossed.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j
  • MP's office phoned me back this afternoon. She had spoken to the Decision Maker and i should receive my decision tomorrow or more likely Monday and he (the decision maker) thinks i will be very happy with the decision. I double checked that they had said that. Not getting my hopes up until i have it in writing.
  • Hi all, newbie here,

Just a rundown of my experience so far....

I previously claimed DLA for about 3years due to my disability, but as the time approached to reapply, i left it too late (due to circumstances in my life at the time) and ended up having to make a new PIP application.

I applied for PIP over the phone at the end of June 2013. Recieved the form about two weeks later sent it off and waited...... And waited.....

Once it got to August and I had heard nothing, I got the number for Atos and called them. Was told they have a huge backlog and couldnt give me even an approximate timeframe. Since that phonecall, I rang them every week and finally have an assesment date on the 22nd November.

I am writing this because I would definately advise others in similar situation to keep chasing Atos, as getting the appointment was pure luck as it was someone elses cancellation. Goodness knows how long I would be waiting if I hadnt called them, maybe they just got fed up with me keep calling!

Anway I hope this helps others! Just FYI, I live in the London area.

Hi All, wishing you the best of luck for Monday delilahcaz - if your decision is made by then, and judging from previous forum member posts, I think that it is reasonably safe to say that these claims are taking approximately a minimum of 20-22 weeks from the start of the claim. I have heard of people waiting much longer dependent on when the assessment takes place - but the average wait (with a lot of stress and phone calls) is about 5 months. Hopeful many of us will hear this side of Christmas.
  • Bet it wont take as long for people who are already on DLA as they will still have to pay them full DLA rates while they do there claim for PIP.

My OH is at 18 weeks, we have finally got a response from our MP so with any luck it should start moving.
Its obviously going to be a no, then you have the appeal if your already at 5 months before you get to that stage its not unrealistic to think it might take a year! By which time I will have had a nervous breakdown and my OH will have commited suicide.
This whole thing is stupid lets kick the poor.
  • Hi All, letter came this morning. I got enhanced care rate until December 2015. Yahoo!! It took a long time but at least i can relax for a bit now. Keep going folks and dont hesitate in contacting your MP when things are taking too long. THanks for all your support:rotfl::j:beer:
