    hi everyone

i have been following this thread and am pleased to see a lot of you got your awards.

i waited 33 weeks for an assessment with ATOS in Tyne and Wear.

the assessment was last week and i am wondering when it would be acceptable to start calling DWP to see if they have the report?

thank you and good luck to those still waiting
  • Well, still no decision.46 weeks since claim, 9 weeks since DWP had report.Again another call back waiting for.The funny thing is this time on the phone I was told it only takes 2-3 weeks for decision. Are they taking the mickey?

I follow your posts in the hope you get your descision so I can roughly see how long mine will take lol. 50 weeks since first call and 7 weeks with decision makers. I also get told 2 or 3 weeks and the call centre staff say they dont understand the delay as no queries have been made. Call backs are a waste of time I had 1 who told me no different to call centre staff couldnt say when it will be looked at. So frustrated and fed up cant understand the delay at all. Hope you hear soon :)

Hi, I'm in Newcastle area too. Had my assessment two weeks ago (on a Tuesday) and my report was back with ATOS the following day. It then went for audit but was sent to DWP on the Friday and passed to a Decision Maker on the Monday following. Hopefully will get a decision soon! I would think your timescale should be pretty much the same as mine unless there are any queries thrown up during the audit. Good luck. Su

Just made my weekly call to the DWP to see if my decision had been made - only a week since it was passed to the DM but I live in hope!! Spoke to Simon who told me that although my file had been passed to a Case Manager it was still in the 'pile'. He did say, however, that they have now been instructed to clear the backlog of claims over 9 months as quickly as possible and that these take precedence. He told me to call back at the end of the week. Here's hoping.

Currently 51 weeks (on Weds) since originally claimed!

Hi fairy dust, I don't undersatand it either. When i looked at past posts in the forum the majority seem to have had the decision in 5 weeks. Have you contacted your MP.I did and received a letter last week. They have written to IDS and are waiting his reply.

May not help a lot of us in the short term but seems at last greater publicity of the chaos associated with PIP and other disability benefits/cuts is more likely than it has been.

My PIP money still not in my bank, no call back from DWP yet (5 days up tomorrow) and not heard from my MP. I'm wondering if Dave has to sign the cheque and all that publicity about us having too much debt is true, maybe they've gone over the monthly overdraft amount and it'll come through next month?

Would have thought DWP would have automatically prioritised claims in date order of claim. Seems it's very much pot luck from how quickly your form is sent out, when your assessment takes place, how long the report takes to write, whether the report goes into audit or not and for how long, how long it takes to send report to DWP and then how long they take to make the final decision. Then if you're lucky you'll actually get some money.
