They said today I should get a decision any day now but she said they would send a letter, but I'm sure some others have been telephoned is that correct?

I was told a letter is sent, also told they can telephone but its not something they always do, but the letter is always sent, woman at DWP told me this its seems its different all the time with some getting phonecalls others not

So they're borrowing from peter to pay paul? It's a bit like sticking a plaster over a gaping hole.

From what I can see the problem lies with the government's over reliance on the private sector to deliver an untested procedure that has an inherinent aim to cut disability benefit payments. The government seems to then have underestimated the number of claimants and the time it would take to process claims from the initial phone call through to the final payment. In turn the private sector seems to have underestimated the number of professionals willing or able to undertake the assessment and report writing and the time each assessment takes. Furthermore there was no end to end testing so no opportunity to identify where potential delays may take place before a mass roll out took place. Add to that another IT system that's not quite up to the job. No wonder there's delays?

In March the PCS reported the build up of a backlog of claims, it's taken 3 months for something to be done about it. From what I can see it's not only ATOS and Capita who have miscalculated the staff resources needed to complete PIP claims. The DWP, keeping our country's economic plan on track have 'let go' hundreds of experienced staff on voluntary severance schemes and are now stretching their resources. Something's going to snap?

As for me, I'm giving them til Friday. If no call back or money I'll be reluctantly back on to my MP. I've worked out it makes no difference how often you call DWP, all the call centre do is log your call and read off a screen (some better than others). When it's all over I'm going to complete this https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/personal-independence-payment-pip-assessment-first-independent-review, claim compensation and write to IDS, size 10 Penning and call me Dave, probably for all the good it'll do me. But maybe if I do this, or worse, won't happen to somebody else.

Don't be sorry about the rant, I'm sorry to hear about your troubles and what your family are going through, it must be so very difficult and this process doesn't help either, it consumes a person. Get your MP involved and see if you can get Social Services to back you as your daughter's health is impacting all of your family. For a long while I was very consumed and obsessed by this process to the point it's all I ever talked about and then I remembered something I used to always tell my kids when they moaned about things and that was that no matter what we go through, there is always someone else worse off and it is so true. So I have kind of detached myself somewhat, I don't talk to my family or friends about it now but once this decision has been given to me, DWP are going to pay for what they put me through. I had a similar situation nearly two years ago with my ESA claim and was told to claim PIP in the Dec but I didn't claim until the following Oct. I didn't even want to claim PIP because of the bad experience and how it affected me it scared me and I knew it would make me more ill and it has but my oldest daughter made me ring them up, bossy mare, but I guess I'm still to find out if any of it was worth it or not. They said today I should get a decision any day now but she said they would send a letter, but I'm sure some others have been telephoned is that correct?

You are so right and I totally agree it is so easy to be consumed by the process. I have read about some truly awful situations and I end up feeling so guilty for moaning. I am going to try to relax about things a little and just take pleasure in you guys getting somewhere. Then when they have sorted my daughter I am going for the jugular!!! Hope everyone is as well as they can be.:)

I have just rung ATOS who told me assessment out of audit and sent back to DWP 24/6. I rang ATOS on 24/6 (admittedly kicking up a fuss) and they said still in audit then so dont know what to think. How long would you leave it before ringing DWP for update?

I have to say, it was only for the fact my MP intervened that things started moving with my claim. I made the claim in the Oct and by April never heard anything not even an assessment date and I contacted my MP on the Tue 15, he replied to me on the following day to say he would chase it up and by the Fri I had an assessment date booked in for 29 April and it was in my town too. He has also chased the report up with Atos and that was sent to DWP on 2 June, now DWP have said today they raise some queries with the Medical Professional who has already responded to those queries and she told me today a decision should be made any day now but I'm not holding my breath, I've called them every week since they got my report and from next week I am going to call them every day and remind them how much more ill they have made me and I do intend addressing that matter once a decision has been made. Gonna sue DWP for undue stress, distress and suffering!! It's like an abuser, they only do it because they've been getting away with it, well it's time a stop was put to it. The Government started a big campaign to address domestic violence and abuse well the same very government are abusing the disabled, sick and vulnerable people in our country so they should be stopped too otherwise it's just double standards folks!!!!
Well so much for all that I said yesterday now I'm just confused dot com!! Got an e-mail from my MP earlier telling me he got a response from DWP and he has quoted this in the e-mail from them...
The report from the Assessment Provider, Atos, was received on 02/06/14 and assigned to a Case Manager on 02/06/14. The Case Manager required further information from Atos and this has been requested from Atos on 11/06/14. The Quality Assurance Manager has contacted Atos, due to the urgency, and the supplementary report should be available by the end of this week.

As soon as the report is received, it will be dealt with urgently at each stage. I am sorry I cannot provide a more accurate timescale for completing the decision but I hope I have clarified the current situation.”

So the girl I spoke with yesterday who told me that they have the information back already from Atos, was she just talking BS? Do they just make things up in the hope it may make us feel better? I'm infuriated so I have decided I am not going to wait until Monday to call them every day I am going to start calling them every day from today.... THE LIARS!!! Has anyone ever heard of a supplementary report being asked for? So much for the QA function because if the QA Mgr conducted an effectice Quality Audit on the report before passing to the Case Mgr then why is a supplementary report being asked for. :wall:

Just came off the phone. DWP case manager rang me and told that I have been awarded enhansed rate of daily living and standard mobility. He told me that I have scored 21 for daily living but only 10 points as I ticked on the box that I can walk 20-30 meters with the help of a crutch. I asked if they could reconsider the mobility but the DM said NO. He told me that I should receive the award letter and money in next 7 -1 working days. I forgot to ask him how long this award is for.
Not sure if I should be asking for MR or leave it as it is.
Just to remind that I did not have F2F assessment, I asked my MP to contact ATOS and chase my assessment date. After couple of days ATOS informed my MP that they have already done the paper based review and the report has been sent to the PIP DM. I waited over 5 weeks from the date DWP received my report so yesterday I emailed my MP and asked him to help me again. He replied to tell that he has contacted DWP and they will let me know as soon as they could. And here we go, in less than 24 hours DWP contacted me and informed me about the decision. :j
THANKS Goodness this painful 32 weeks journey is over... well hopefully.
Many thanks to this forum and good luck to everyone.
:money: Doubling of debt equals ’stabilising this financial problem’. This new definition is very handy. Blood pressure doubled in 12 months? Don’t bother treating it, it’s stable! Tumour size doubled? Don’t worry about that cancelled op, your tumour’s stable! Think of the savings that can be made!:money:

If I were you I would put it in writing to ask for an MR because you so much time has passed since you completed that form and you didn't have a F2F, what have you got to lose. They can't just say no they're not doing an MR, I know it's more hassle but these people making these decisions need to wake up and smell the coffee and realise they are not God and we need to fight for what we are entitled to.
