Barney still isn't risking 'windowsill naps'! spent most of today on settee. Forecast not good for tomorrow - lets hope it isn't as bad as Friday.
GD1 is having her sleepover tonight - she loves Barney, as he is always very gentle with her (she is the one with Aspergers, and cats normally end up scramming her). Every one has been fed now - and we have watched splash. GD1 spent most of the time watching Barney sleep - he is like a contortionist which she finds very amusing - particularly when he does the back half pointing one way and the front half pointing the other! or his 'dead cat' impression - flat on his back with all paws sticking up in the air!

my Giz does a Superman impression when he sleeps - with his front legs sticking straight out in front of him!
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

fairly calm day today weatherwise so Barnes has resumed 'windowsill naps'. but mostly he spent this morning charming GD1! honestly, he was never far from her! she 'coos' to him, strokes him and responds to his attempts at 'conversations'. she helped me groom him and was amazed at how fine and silky his coat is straight after grooming - then he gets 'dandelion' fur and looks a lot fatter and fluffier than he really is!
I am thinking of keeping his 'groomings' - would make lovely nesting material for the birdies in the spring! would the smell of cat put them off? does anyone else do this?

We've put cat fur out for the birds in the past and I think it's been used by them.

Are you still booby trapping your bath or has Barnes got the message now?

hi slinky - Thanks - I will start 'saving' his combings then - I joked to GD1 that I should spin them into yarn and make a lovely jumper! she took me seriously, looked at the combings and told me I wouldn't live long enough! rofl!

I still boobytrap the bath - but am not as vigilant as before - he has ignored the open curtain and used litter tray - but, it only takes the once and we are back to square one! I still feel I couldn't trust him if he gets stressed - not yet anyway.

Maybe make a scarf instead then :rotfl:

I bought a new collar for Scrappy yesterday as his was looking tatty and Harley kitten spent the whole night puffing himself up and making himself tall as though to say "I need a new collar too, look, mine's tight! I'm all grown up now..." Worse than kids sometimes :D

Barnes is sleeping on his pile of cushions on settee. tempted to put a stone underneath to see if he notices!
he has had a lovely quiet, sleepy day until grandgirls arrived. then he watches every move they make, as he knows each one will ask to give him 'treats'!
OMG - I only noticed today I had picked up the 'doggy' treat sticks instead of the cat ones! I ripped one off and opened it and it smelt awful!yeeeuch!
will have to give them to no1 son for his dog - Barney cant have those! luckily I did have a pack of cat ones!

Barney had his groom and there were 'slim pickings' in cat fur terms! I find more cat hair on the carpets! its all going in a net which used to contain onions! when its time it will go in the garden for the birds.

It isn't often Barney has a 'mad five minutes' but when he does he is priceless!
today I heard him jump off bedroom windowsill and tear down the stairs - I looked out and it definitely wasn't 'hailstoning' then he entered the dining room and started spinning in circles..........round and round and round he went - and hit his head on the table leg! which only made him change direction and spin back the way he came in! I was doubled up laughing! two seconds later he was thumping up the stairs and back onto bedroom windowsill! Where he presumably settled back into his nap!

I was just about to power down the computer last night when Barnes decided it was playtime! he sat by his toy basket and yowled - then when he had my attention he fished out the box of ping pong balls! Yawn - he wants to play pingponguppastairs at gone 11.00pm! good thing OH was in work - he wouldn't have been happy if he had gone to bed!
The amount of noise Barney makes chasing the balls up and down stairs, and across the landing has to be heard to be believed! he is a heavy cat with huge paws - lol, luckily my neighbour is rather deaf!

I discovered today that Barnes loves ice-cream! I had bought more ice-cream and as there was only a smidgeon left in the carton OH had that and the lid was left on the worktop - now I have NEVER known Barnes steal food off the worktop, so was surprised to see him batt the lid off the worktop, then jump down and turn the lid over to lick the ice-cream off! wasn't much on the lid so I let him get on with it!
Perhaps he thinks that once its on the floor its his? lol
