Barnes hasn't done much today - slept, ate, slept a bit more, ate, slept - but then instead of giving me his usual cat massage when I was (as usual) stretched out watching 'Pointless', he came and settled down on me for a sleep!
mind you, he did stretch out one paw and dig claws in my cardi! it felt like he had the need to 'hang on' to me!

grandgirls didn't come down today - Barnes was watching for them (how the heck do animals keep 'calendars' in their heads?), but he coped well with the disappointment - he napped!

I have been a bit 'busy' today - spent most of it on the phone sorting something out for my mum. Barnes was most supportive - he slept through it all!
Now though, he is feeling playfull - so I have had to play PingPong AND pingponguppastairs - and I wanted to do other things! I really wanted to spend today in kitchen prepping what I can for Christmas. oh well, the best laid plans etc! lol.
did manage to give him a thorough groom today though. He keeps his fur coat in good condition fair play to him! its the bits he cant reach.........behind his ears. his neck and between his shoulder blades - the rest of it he is meticulous with. even his tummy (which is getting tubby now).
he can get a bit 'overzealous' - I notice he is concentrating on just above the tail - and it seems a bit reddened. now whether that is due to him 'overgrooming' or its irritating him has yet to be ascertained.
His coat is looking good overall - he has got 'curly' fur on his tummy and at first I thought it was matting - but it doesn't, the comb goes through easily.
as I said - he isn't a 'show' cat and he doesn't like being groomed - so I only do what is necessary to keep him comfortable and looking 'good'!

Barnes dislikes being 'groomed' - but over the last couple of days he has let me stroke his tummy - so I got his comb out, and he has no objection to me 'combing' his tummy if he is relaxed and I stroke it first.! said before he keeps it nicely, matt free. I was a bit concerned about his 'underarms'. but they are fine!
oh and he seems to like his tummy being stroked - lays back and purrs like mad!

I told my darlings that "Grandma" and Tommo (dad's dog) are coming to visit tomorrow and both Scrappy and Harley jumped up onto the window and sat staring out for ages, I guess they didn't understand the "tomorrow" part ;)

The two old men have got fleas. I thought I'd finally won the war on the pesky blighters but no! So now I have a trip to PAH to stock up on flea stuff the weekend before Xmas, grrr!

okay - daily report coming up!
Atrix and his missus visited this morning - Barnes was so pleased to see them!

I saw this and thought "Huh?" then realised you meant Atrix's missus, not me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I kept hearing Hubby saying "No Harley, stop batting the bauble" "No Harley, don't climb the tree" "No Harley, leave the lights alone" I just lay in bed giggling to myself.

This is the same as my house. I've come to the conclusion that since the one specific bauble both our terrors have taken a shine to they can't seem to get off (they're all plastic) and they have never (yet) tried to climb the tree, I just let them get one with it much to my delight. Hubby however is constantly telling them off.... even more so now Gitmo can now open the doors on the TV stand enough to squeeze through and sit on the bottom shelf looking back out at you.

grandgirls sleeping over tonight - Barnes got more than his usual quota of 'dreamies'.

I saw a flea on him earlier - I suspected as much as he had been scratching more and his skin feels a bit 'scabby'. arrrggh! changed from Frontline and its only a couple of weeks - will pop to pet shop for Johnsons4Fleas as people give it good reviews. hopefully its a 'stray' and that will sort it out!
Clipped his claws - and isn't that a job and a half! his paws are so furry that its hard to see his claws and when clipping you get fur caught up. lol - its no wonder he 'skids' on UPVC windowsills though! I heard him jump on windowsill the other day, and nanoseconds later he landed with huge thump on the floor - closely followed by an ornament!

I got some johnsons tabs today and gave him one about 2.00. hopefully that will kill the flea(s)! what is going on? bluddy fleas seem impervious to the 'flea treatments'!

picked up some different packets of dreamies to what he usually has. so they will be part of his Christmas present. Am disappointed that almost every Cat 'Stocking' I have found has had treats of 'catnip' flavour! Barnes doesn't like them! Catnip is for rolling and rubbing and 'snorting' to him - not eating! so couldn't get a 'stocking'.
I had a visitor so Barnes 'groom and treats' was a bit delayed.
I hope it works! fingers crossed!
Grandgirls were giving Barney treats this morning and playing with him. He enjoyed that immensely!
he likes visitors too - he is convinced they come to see him, luckily our visitor loves cats - he is too well mannered to 'bother' them, but you can see he is disappointed if they don't 'fuss' him. he waits politely to be 'introduced', on hearing his name he will walk over to them and invite them to stroke him. He will enjoy strokes as long as they are forthcoming - but if he doesn't get any will walk away.
    Impeccable manners!
  • I hear you on stockings! I haven't been able to get anything for my boy as he has no reaction to catnip and any treat not made by Thrive gets looked at with disdain. Think I'll just order him the maxi tube and be done with it. :rotfl:
