We have discovered a new 'game'!

Barnes had his groom and treats and sat by his toy basket - so I got out 'fishonnaline' which he played with for five minutes - then he pawed out the ping pong ball box. (there were 12 balls but 5 of them have 'disappeared'!). he just sat and watched me roll them to him with a look of boredom on his face. I took them out to hall and threw a few uppa the stairs - no reaction.............I gathered them up and came back in lounge to find Barnes sitting on Settee. ok. I threw one intending it to go over his head, but he caught it in midair!!!!between his paws! and dropped it and was obviously waiting for next one! I threw another and he swatted it across the room! we had great fun then! my god he is agile! he can catch them, swat them and didn't miss many (the expression on his face said that if he did, it was my fault for being a cissy thrower)!
He will definitely be getting another pack (or two) of ping pong balls for Christmas!

he also likes to play with box of pp balls! he 'bats' it around until it disgorges a ball or two then he chases them and swats them under the settees! lol. no wonder we lose them!
  • We have some nub balls from zooplus (http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_toys/balls/42991) that Gizmo goes crazy for. They're brilliant as they bounce unpredictably. We have patio doors which lead to an extension at the back end of the living room so we move the table and bounce them off the doors and he catches them as they come back. He absolutely loves it. I too know the look of shame when he misses, obviously it's my fault and not his.

Well OH is digging his heels in tonight - he refuses to give up HIS seat on sofa to Barnes. and every few minutes I can hear Barney 'squeeking' at him! lol

I was out most of the morning - got home in time to do groom and treats while my lunch got 'dinged'.
and Barnes has slept most of the afternoon! and evening. sorry people - very boring post tonight!

well crimbo decorations gone up! and so has the new tree 'the slimline black fibre optic one'.

Oh dear, that came out very 'Hyacinth Bucket' didn't it? lol.

Barney was very interested in the whole process and offered his help a couple of times. Which was not very politely refused by OH! so he amused himself by attempting to detangle the Christmas card holder (is the 'washing line type with little pegs), which OH had just chucked into the box without winding it around something! I found it amusing that Barney then got the blame for it being a 'cats cradle'! took OH the best part of half an hour to detangle it!
Barney walked over to the tree when we plugged it in and surveyed it critically - it must have met with his approval, as he then sauntered over to the settee for a nap on the cushions, which OH had piled up on one end - puts me in mind of the old fairy tale - the 'Princess and the Pea!

I let him come out into porch with me today while I had a ciggy - he took one look outside - the rain blew in onto him and he retreated behind the door! and looked at me so reproachfully I apologised and let him back into the house!

Love reading about Barneys antics. Hubby thinks Im crazy because I often laugh out loud when reading about him :rotfl:
I have one who is affectionate like Barney. Even curls round the top of my head at night and sleeps with his chin on my forehead, Don't have the heart to move him off :)

Thank you nicter! Barnes hasn't actually slept with me now since I damaged a rib! he comes for a cuddle when I go to bed. But when he senses I am dropping off he jumps down and leaves the room!

Rib is getting better - I can manage to sleep most of the night now - its two weeks tomorrow since I hurt it - I am usually a fast healer and its 'Irking' me that I still have to be so careful with it!

hmmm - not many responses to my request for a 'posh pedigree type name for Barney'! are you all shy?
its ten days now till Christmas Eve - I will put up a poll in four days time - and if you only have three to vote for - well, so be it!
I have been working on his 'Naming Certificate'! so something to put on it will be lovely! and NO, I am NOT going to submit a name myself!
For new readers - go back a page or two - I requested a posh name for Barnes as his breeder refused to hand over his 'papers'. and I think he deserves one!

thanks nicter - didn't bother going for xray - know dam well they don't do anything for broken or sprung ribs these days so no point! being a first aider, and my OH and SIL are both highly trained in first aid, I do know what to look out for re complications.

Yes! please do think of posh name for Barney! so I can use it when he is being annoying! lol I just thought it would be a bit of fun and engage people who read the thread and are interested in Barnes.

I do love the old-fashioned names! for kids and cats! Alf sounds brilliant - how about posting a pic of him?
