    Debt-free and Proud!
Meritaten, easier said than done with my mum!

Yesterday harley rudely awoke mum by dumping something furry next to the bed. At first mum thought it was a "present" but it was actually one of mum's owl fridge magnets. Must have got caught on his catflap key.

Nice quiet day today - except that GS2 didn't want to go shopping with his mum and dad and decided to come up and spend an hour or so with me. I have him in the morning but then I don't think I have him again til Friday (unless mums shifts are mucked about again).

Barney was quite happy to see him until GS accidentally kicked the softball in his face! he shot upstairs and refused to come down until GS rattled the dreamies bag and apologised!

I am very late with update - sorry!
    got distracted elsewhere.

and not much to say really - except Barnes is getting more possessive of me! I cant even go out for a ciggy! he yowls at the door! I have to tell him I am going out for a bit - he sits at front door yowling til I have finished my ciggy and come back in.
If, shock, horror, I actually have to leave the premises - he sits or lies on kitchen windowsill and watches for me. when I come in I call out 'Hi Barney, I'm Hooome' and he saunters over for cuddles! lol
I am not exaggerating - I am sure Atrix will confirm this! he has been there when Barney has been yowling at the door cos I am having a ciggy!
and not an hour passes by but Barnes comes to check up on me!
  • I've been reading this thread since the beginning, thought it was about time I actually said hello. :hello:

OH and I have had our rescued cat for nearly a month now, he is the same when I leave the house. Our front window runs nearly the full width of the house. He sits in the corner closest to the side of the house I almost always walk up from, then follows me along the sill until I reach the door side. If I pause by the door for any reason, he'll stand and meow until the key goes into the lock, at which point he'll jump down and run for the door. And boy was he mad the one evening when I popped quickly to the shop and forgot to open the blind so he could keep watch. :rotfl:

Atrix - you have one very friendly openly affectionate cat (Cocoa) and one very aloof cat (Miley) - so you have experience of both kinds! the others are sort of in between these two extremes.
Barney is sort of out of my experience - I am not used to a cat displaying this kind of 'devotion', lol. I got used to it with the dogs - but not with the cats. I find it sweet and very comforting , but at the same time it can be a bit irritating! I was having a ciggy outside this evening and Barney tried to get through the letter box! at least I think that's what he was doing..........he stretched up and held on to the letterbox hole and pushed the flap out, while yowling so loud I am sure the whole street heard him! then his back paws were scrabbling against the door.............I started laffing and said that 'Its not a cat flap Barnes, you cant get through there'. or he could have just been copying the grandkids who also cant give me five mins peace for a ciggy and shout requests for 'drinks, popcorn, biscuits, dvds etc' through the letterbox! rofl
  • you got to persevere maybe allow him to go out in the porch with you only if he stays in the porch, if not, then lock him in the dining room.

    ignore him when he's yowling.
  • Our youngest sits outside the toilet door if I don't let him in and meows constantly until I either let him in or finish and leave. He also does it when I get up on a morning (only when I get up) if he's been banished to the kitchen during the night. It sounds like he's saying "mam, mam, mam, mam" over and over again. I should add that this is the cat that prefers DD and DH and "tolerates" me.

Barnes yowls sound like a c0ckerel being strangled - amplified by a loudhailer! lol
I have only ever heard these noises coming from a Siamese cat before now!
