Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

Quiet day today? not quite! had one DG for sleepover last night and she didn't go home until nearly lunchtime. then her sisters arrived for their sleepover at teatime.
But, Barnes and I had a lovely quiet afternoon.....we curled up on settee with a book. Well, I read book while Barney napped.
The girls played with Barney later as the mood took him to be 'playful'! He escorted them up to bed, and listened with them to their bedtime story, but they must be asleep now as he has come down again.
Bit tired myself so I am logging off now and going beddybyes!0 -
Barnibus is scratching himself again! grrr- I cant see any signs of fleas. (said that before haven't I). He will be up the vets as soon as my money hits the bank! (overspent and there isn't enough in account right now). should be in next tues.
How DID people manage before vets? surely they didn't have flea ridden pets on their laps?
Barnes loved Christmas I think. tell me about your pets Christmas, did they love their pressies or destroy them? eat your dinner? fuse the Christmas tree lights?0 -
My pets' Christmas, hmmm....well surprisingly, my tree is still standing minus only one bauble. None of the presents were mysteriously half unwrapped (like last year) and all ribbons and bows remained intact. They weren't interested in playing with the wrapping paper from the presents either. In fact, they all seemed rather "meh" about it all, even Harley kitten. I thought he'd go bananas with it being his first Christmas.
They all got a bit of turkey for Xmas lunch, apart from Harley who STILL won't eat meat. They all loved the treats and tins of food their Grandmas bought them.
Oh, and the cardboard box i store the decs in....well, the cats have been taking turns at playing in it, typically!0 -
We have had a childfree day today - so we had a nice lie-in, leisurely breakfast and a chill day! I spent about fifteen minutes grooming Barney (we went through twice the amount of Dreamie treats even though I was being miserly with them!). I went over him with a fine toothcomb (literally) and didn't find one flea or any fleadirt. so why is he scratching? I am beginning to wonder if its a 'habit' with him? may try him with a soft collar and see if that helps. just to break the habit.
ahhhh - I lay down on settee wishing for a nice relaxing 'cat massage' and before long Barnes duly obliged. Except his claws need cutting and it was more like acupuncture! With BLUNT needles! I had to stop him after a minute! OH is working late, so will have to wait to cut his claws - I dare not do it on my own as he wriggles and I am sure to cut into the 'quick'.0 -
Meritaten, if Barnes' claws need cutting perhaps he is just irritating his skin when he casually scratches, leaving the skin feeling sore/red/tingly and so he is scratching more because of that, if that makes sense. Like when you have an itch and you scratch it, your skin can feel worse so you scratch some more...0

spotted a flea when grooming him today - so he had another thorough groom! found a couple more but they must have just 'hatched' as they were very small. He was due for his spot-on on Thursday anyway so that's been done today. They aren't lasting four weeks - so I am thinking of getting a flea collar. local shop has ordinary leather collars for 99p so I bought one to see how he reacts to it.
Surprisingly as I got it out of the bag he came running, sniffed the collar and didn't object when I put it on him! at some time in his life he must have been used to one, he has had it on for a few hours now and seems to actually like it! its quite loose and he could easily slip it off if he wants to. I may cut those ruddy bells off it though - they are going to get on my nerves! lol0 -
hmmmm - he can move without jingling the bells when he wants to! surprisingly, he still had it on today and it hasn't annoyed me at all! When he has a good scratch I can hear them and he seems to like the noise it makes!!!!!
I didn't hear bells at all last night - either I was zonked out or he was very considerate and didn't set them going!
another thorough groom and no fleas or fleadirt! not complacent though - the little bu99ers appear out of nowhere! fgs - he is an 'indoor cat'!
made a big mistake today ................told grandgirls they could have a 'sleepover' not realising the last Harry Potter film was on tonight! arrrrgghhh - I thought it was tomorrow - as the Part one was on boxing night! so naturally I thought it would be tomorrow night.
of course OH was flicking through channels and said 'S***, last Harry Potter on tonight, (it had started) just as I was starting everyones supper! I missed first half hour - and girls wanted to do other things - so gave up! will have to catch up on Iplayer or buy the dvd! I love Harry Potter!
So does Barnes apparently - he perched on settee back and watched it with OH!0 -
Barnes enjoyed the grandgirls company!
we had a good grooming session, I took off the collar and gave him a good 'going over'! no fleas or dirt.
he seemed to like the collar going back on! gave it a good scratching!
OH has a habit of piling up the cushions on the settee - Barnes loves that and settles down happily on them! then watches TV with OH! he is right now ensconced on cushioned watching TV with OH. or perhaps he is half asleep!0 -
What a day! weather absolutely foul here in S E Wales Valleys. Barnes doesn't like it either, today we have had hail (he hates hail), Rain, not so bad - he doesn't mind rain cos he isn't out in it, and I have discovered that Thunder and Lightening disturbs his nap and its MY FAULT! lol - he was napping on settee (he has abandoned windowsill naps in case it hails), when there was a bright flash and a simultaneous clap of thunder! he shot to his feet, looked around, glared hard at me and settled back down again! rofl - at each clap of thunder I got a glare...........until the storm went away! he hasn't moved off the settee though except for quick visits to litter tray!0
-
Barnes is snuggled up on settee, on his pile of cushions, as close as he can get to OH!
who is trying to talk quietly to him, but I have very good hearing thanks, and I can hear 'Barney boos, its ok, just a bit of thunder.........hail............that was lightening, its ok. its ok Barneyrubble..........ahhhh that was a loud one, its ok Barneyrubbletrubble.
and when I peek round corner - OH usually is stroking Barney!0
