Just catching up. :) Glad you're keeping Barnes! :T
TGWTDT is a great book. Explains so much more than the swedish films did. (And I hate to admit it at times the Hollywood version was more true to the books).

I don't usually like translations - but this one is very well done. its a slow start but I am really getting into it - its a long book though and MIGHT take me a couple of days! I haven't seen the film - for some reason the reviews didn't appeal to me. I might if I enjoy the rest of the book!

yeah - come hell or high water Barnes is staying with me! unless of course Atrix is approached by a 'Perfect Family' desperate to adopt a red peke faced Persian who poos in the bath and is terribly allergic to fleas!

Lifeforms - I have been racking my brain - but there really isn't anywhere where I could PUT the litter tray! its huge (about the biggest you can get), and my house is quite small! and I have a lot of 'stuff'! the only place available was the bathroom! so its that or nothing!
I do have space in the bathroom for a second litter tray - so I am trying to second guess Barnes in whether to place it in bath for a while until he has used it, then move it to preferred location or put it straight into preferred location!

on the plus side I put on my leggings this morning and OH stared at me and said 'your thighs are getting thinner'!
(shhhh - its all that 'upanddown' stairs to check bath)! not doing my back much good though!

I think Barnes should have his own FB page ....or maybe his own blog.

(Thinking about it a blog can make money for the treat fund so blog for choice as he's an MSE cat ;) )

I hate FB! we had a difficult divorce a few months ago! (to get out of FB you have to interpret a completely incomprehensible image - which they keep telling you you have wrong! I was so mad I kept at it and at about the tenth go I got it right! bye bye Effbook!) so thanks for the thought but, no way!

blog - er, I have never read a blog and have no intention of doing so. so would have no idea how to go about it! how on earth does it earn 'money'? is it like Youtube where if you get over a certain amount of 'hits' you get paid?
hmmm - that has a certain attraction - but, I didn't start this thread with any thought of payment. I just wanted a little advice and to 'chat' about Barney and his issues. and for other cat owners to join in. and I have been given fantastic advice - I have read, listened to and digested every single post - they are very much appreciated!
I am not a blogger or even a diarist! I like to have people respond to posts - and I love hearing other cat stories!
I get worried if I see I have posted two or three times and no responses!!!!!!!!!!! so please post with your cat tales! or if you want to make a suggestion!

Barnes and GS had a grooming session and then played 'pingponguppastairs' for a while - til Barnes decided it was more fun to watch! Did you know that 5 yr old boys like being pelted by ping pong balls as they stand on the landing! we had fun pelting each other for about twenty minutes (my arm is aching now) til his mum and dad walked in, just as he caught me on the head and was doing a victory dance while shouting 'I got you'! his mum just sighed and walked in the lounge, but his dad got into the spirit of it and it became a 'three way fight'! which Barnes watched with interest! then started 'batting' the stray balls into the kitchen - his way of saying 'OK - Enough'?

Honestly you don't want my latest cat story of how cat got trapped by tail in brambles -was trapped for two days -near £400 later cat is fine but instead of a huge big furry tail has a stump as he lost circulation in his tail for too long . Fortunately he's Mr Placid and has taken it all in his stride .

Wanted to reply to this, we had a stray come pet called scruffy. Oh and very odd religious to the point of westbr0 type neighbours...

Scruffy came in one day missing a tail. Yeah, his whole tail had gone. We found it on the compost heap having been sliced off by a pane of glass that fell from next doors dilapidated shed/garage which sat behind the compost heap. After it being seen to, he recovered well and was perfectly fine with no tail.

Roll on a few years, dilapidated garage still.. Smokey who frequently broke legs disappeared. Neighbours wouldn't let us in to check or even bother checking themselves despite being able to hear her in there.

So we went to a policeman who lived a few doors up who gained access and retrieved our cat with a new broken back leg. She'd fallen through the roof. Anyhow they'd been storing open barrels of oil and petrol in there "for future apocalypse use"; mad people. They got into trouble for that dangerous act. On a funny note, once cat was fixed up with a cast she was back to her old tricks and removing casts, frequent visitor to the vet to get it redone.

By putting a litter tray in the bath I think it would just encourage him to use it there and might cause more problems. At least if he does it in the bath it's the easiest place ever to clean, but not much help if you want to stop it. Have you tried litter freshner in his tray? Or different types of litter? I have a psychological warfare with mine over the tray. I've psychologically trained him to think the freshner smell means a brand new sparkling tray.
Thing is he knows what his tray is for, so it's not that he's not litter trained. I do wonder if its what you do in the bath. Perhaps your own smellies? Shower gel, shampoo I mean! Or even cleaning products, that he's trying to mask the smell of that?

Omg I'd freak if one of mine came in with no tail......I'd think I was seeing things. What a freaky accident.

Dyson got very fed up with our other cat as he kept quizzically looking closely at his rear end trying to work out where the tail had gone. Not the brightest spark on the bonfire is Kenzie.

could I respectfully suggest you read further than first post? unless you are just a troll - in which case get off my thread![/QUOTE]

Sorry that I did not read past the first post. I do not know what a troll is, but did hear that an MP may have used this word.
I will have to ask my grandchildren to tell me.
