even if you have never posted before - come on and post on here! this brand new Persian owner needs HELP!

Aha! So he is staying for good then :j :rotfl:

I've been lurking on the forum for quite a while, and very much enjoying the saga of Barnes too, although I'm afraid I don't have any words of wisdom to add! I originally started looking at the thread because I've just adopted a new two year old kitty via the CPL. Sadly my elderly kitty had to be PTS three weeks ago and I very much miss him. New cat Lily won't replace him of course, but she is busy making her own pawprints on my heart :)
  • Well you know I 'tune in' daily for my Barnes fix.:D So please keep them coming.
At least you know what was making him itch now and have put a stop to it. I will say that I have never routinely used the spot on treatments ( even on a cat with flea allergy dermatitis) as I do not like the idea of chemical overload.
I do try and do the whole house once a year or so with Indorex though and find it offers fantastic protection. I also use a steam mop on my hard floors and that is supposed to be good for killing any fleas/eggs too.

Yes I bought some staykill at the same time as the spotons - haven't been able to treat the house yet as me and Barnes have no-where to evacuate to while the house absorbs the treatment and then gets aired! OH has to do that unless I can get Breathing Apparatus!!!! Asthmatic you see!

it WILL be done over the weekend - if all else fails I shall sit in the car with Barnes and a good book (currently reading 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' - not in the original Swedish, but the translation!!!!)

Havent 'officially' had permission off OH and Atrix, but, if anyone thinks I am going to let him go now - they will have a fight on their hands!!!! I would only let go if it was in Barneys best interests!

    Thanks Youngest Son!
I get the feeling OH will agree to my keeping him (cat not OH, but I am keeping OH, unless he doesn't agree! in which case I wouldn't bank on it!)

awww Barnes was so adorable today! two of his human sisters sleptover, and I left their bedroom door open a bit this morning when me and C got up. K was still snoozing and after Barnes had his breakfast I heard him thundering upstairs - going for a kip I thought as it was only 8.30 - five mins later I found him settled on the pillow next to K watching her sleep with his paw resting gently on her arm!!!!!!!!!!! Everybody..........Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!

He has had plenty of 'Kid Time' today and seemed to enjoy it! as youngest GS spent a few hours here this afternoon. and he let GS groom him too!

I have to bribe him with Dreamies - he sits there and LETS the kids brush and comb him as if he enjoys it!!!!!!!!!!

I think Barnes should have his own FB page ....or maybe his own blog.

(Thinking about it a blog can make money for the treat fund so blog for choice as he's an MSE cat ;) )

  • stopUOTE=meritaten;discussion/4739246]my son had a beautiful cat for his birthday last year - but in the last couple of months the cat (Barney) has started to behave aggressively to the other cats and the dog. he isn't eating (lost lots of weight), he has stopped grooming himself and is now toileting outside the litter tray.
my son has asked me to take Barney for a few weeks to see if his behaviour improves as he thinks the cat is suffering stress. if this is so he will then rehome him as an 'only cat'.
Sons home is a bit 'chaotic' - but the other animals seem fine. he wants to know if my much quieter home makes a difference.
I have had cats in the past but not for some years now.
I plan to go out tomorrow and buy the cat some toys - so can I have some suggestions please? Town has an Asda, a Wilkinsons and a Pets at Home. along with Poundland. anyone got an only cat who has a loved 'toy' from any of these? I am afraid Barney is going to get a bit bored with Nanny and Grandad![/QUOTE]

Stop messing about and get this cat to a vet NOW
