he hates having bits inbetween his toes you cant even touch his paws without him backing off first, so the litter maybe putting him off, and he's resorting to a needs must basis when he caught in the bath.
he's obviously liking a smooth surface to go in, perhaps, use some paper instead you know the junk mail type panflet paper of chinese menu types that get shoved through the door every other day or glossy mags?
most cats don't like paws being touched - 'keep your hands off my weapons'!!!!!!!!!! but, he has let me cut his claws without too much protest and while playing I will occasionally gently touch his paw and he allows it.
I am taking the 'patience' route atrix, He 'went' in the litter tray for the first week without fuss (apart from building huge sandcastles over the poo). I think the bath thing is a 'habit' and habits can be broken. I think I will simply pull the shower curtain ALL the way across - He isn't the most agile cat in the world - LOL you all should see him preparing to jump on the worktop, you would think it was ten foot high! (intent stare upwards, wiggle back end, stop, stare some more while mentally calculating, wiggglllle, stop, wiggggle bit more and LEAP and miss!!!!!!! try again............success! have to get someone to record it on their phone and post on youtube!
Dunno what he was thinking of doing today - but, I left the 'puter on and damme a minute later he was sat in my chair staring intently at the screen! I was on Ancestry at the time so perhaps he wanted to look up his 'pedigree'?:)
Does he moult? today I have been finding 'bits' of fur everywhere!
he is still on dry food diet - and not particularly happy about it! very restricted 'treats' too! he tried 'shmoozing' me..............lol, very nice Barnes but no Dreamies! he tried sitting on me (having a lie down again), sorry Barnes...........wont work, so he gave up and went for a snooze (sulk).0 -
not had nuch before he started pulling his hair out literally.
he'll sulk if you dont give in but will intesify his vocals constant pestering and following around and tummy padding and looks that could melt anyone untill you give in if you dont give in after than he'll resort to brushing his face against yours following it up with a headbutt and bit of earboxing.0 -
ok - Ive had an exciting and busy day today! Ive posted about that on marriages ( thread called 'I am soooo pleased for OH'!). so forgive me if I sound a bit mental!
Barnes had a good day poo-wise - he wisely avoided doing battle with the shower curtain and poohed in litter tray!
OH wanted to go to What!s store - I picked up a vibrating spider for Barnes -oooh er , sounds a bit 'risque' doesn't it? he loves it - batted it around, killed it a couple of times, hid it under dining room chairs, retrieved it and batted it round a bit more - every time he wanted it to 'vibrate' he would stop - stare at me while putting paw on Spider.........this cat knows what he wants and how to get it! rofl. he also likes the jingly balls I got him too! the spider was about 90p and the balls about the same!
why do all cat toys sound like 'adult' toys? jeeez!0 -
You sound like you are still buzzing (just carrying on the adult theme) meritaten. What a wonderful day. I'm sure your OH thinks you've earned your forum name today.0

Yeah, a right Egyptian Princess! rofl! I will remember THIS Friday 13th for some time to come!0

rofl! meritaten was an Egyptian princess who actually ruled Egypt at one time - but, it would take some 'digging' to find her as most archeoligists are men and only interested in the 'male pharaohs'.
don't worry about it - most posters think I am male, or like you, a 'merit a ten'!
the name means 'beloved of Aten' so she was a daughter of Akhenaten. lol - or a wife?0 -
Barney is using the 'Portaloo' reliably! shower curtain still pulled across though.
I don't know if its that or because of the ear mite lotion but he has pulled out fur from his neck! a huge bare patch!
jeez - if it isn't one thing its another!
will stop using the lotion - tbh he has scratched more since using it than he did before!0 -
My GD is here tonight - the one that cats don't like! Barney being an exception - he is quite happy to play with her and for her to stroke him!
after a couple of days of dry food diet he has now had his preferred tin of Applaws! Chicken breast. lets see how he does. he ate most of it and I discard any leftovers before I go to bed and put down dried, just in case he wants a 'midnight feast'.
in the last five weeks Barnes has shown no interest in 'our food' - yet tonight he decided to see what GD was having for supper! she had chips, egg fried rice and curry sauce from Chinese takeaway, but I had some prawns to add to it ..........Barnes loves prawns and its the only time I have ever had to warn him away!!!!!!!!!!
Barnes was all set to sleep with GD! he supervised her getting into bed then jumped up and got ready to settle down - but she didn't like the thought of him sleeping with her so I have taken him out and shut the door! he aint gonna be happy - I am sleeping in one of spare rooms tonight. All that Chinese food has resulted in her having 'bubble butt' so..............in self defense, I think, relocation is the answer!0 -
Barnes slept with me last night - he couldn't get in with GD. he did enjoy playing with her this morning - lol, they tried out ALL his toys! I did tell her that pingpong uppa stairs was his favourite! but, bless her she found if you alternate ping pong balls with jingly balls he seems to like it!
he then very politely greeted her parents and GS who he knows. meiows of delight on seeing him!
my poor DD loved him - but is allergic to cats! and the silly mare didn't take an antihistamine before coming over!
Shower curtain trick still working!0
