Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!
Comments
-
Gd1 having her sleepover tonight - she loves Barnes as he doesn't 'attack' her!
I don't know what Barnes disliked about 'Strictly' tonight, but I glanced down at him on the settee beside me, and he was laying there with his front paw up and his 'middle claw extended'! perhaps he found the dance a bit boring or did he disapprove of Craigs comments?
Wolfed down another Aldi pouch this lunchtime - and for his supper tonight! this is too good to be true...........his pouches are normally the expensive ones ................but I hope I don't speak too soon!
his 'catchthedreamies' skills are getting very very good - GD1 thinks we should film him too! not often you see a Persian playing catch.
Fireworks been going off since it got dark - startled GD1 a bit. Barnes even woke up once or twice - but only to yawn and stretch. though once he didn't seem to know where he was - he must have been VERY deeply asleep!
GD1 has hair in a plait tonight so she will probably leave her bedroom door open - she hates Barnes 'playing' with her hair or ponytail! its so thick and quite curly, it gets really tangled up if Barnes messes with it - takes her ages to comb it out in the morning then.0 -
peeked in on GD1 during the night and Barnes was cuddled up to her back. apparently, he felt no need to apply his 'hairdressing skills' and she woke with her 'plait intact'!
he was delighted to have all four grandgirls do his G&T! I had no treats left as they thought it highly amusing to throw treats for him to catch! honestly - there was one very 'happy' cat! didn't stop him scoffing his lunch though! rofl - he has only just now decided to eat his supper though! I put it down at 6.30 as usual and its nearly half nine! he does love the grandgirls - when any of them are here I don't have to look far for Barney.0 -
Barnes nearly strangled himself today!!!!!!!!! I was sat on settee knitting and watching tv when he went over to his toy basket and fished out his 'spider'. which is attached to elastic on a stick. yes you know what came next! he started rolling around the floor rabbitkicking it and then started making this weird noise, I looked down, dropped my knitting, grabbed my scissors and ran over to him. He was pushing the spider with his back legs and the elastic was so tight around his neck I couldn't get a finger under it. and I couldn't put my finger through on the softer front of his neck because he was 'Clawing' the air in front of him! so I cut the spider off, which released the pressure on the elastic enough for me to cut through the strands (he had three or more wound round his neck!) - his eyes were bulging out and he staggered to his feet when I got rid of the elastic. shook himself, then crawled into my lap and pressed himself against me. Poor bu99er! he was really distressed, as he stayed there, being cuddled for about ten minutes. he hasn't been far from me all day since! well not until OH came home - and he had hardly settled down with his coffee before Barnes was up there right beside him 'telling him all about it'.
my blood went cold when I realised how easily that toy could have caused a tragedy. if that had happened if we were out - even popping up the village shop.................................it doesn't bear thinking about!
I will post about this later on pets (and maybe down the 'Arms' too), as a cautionary tale, but, I know a lot of people read at about 9.30ish, knowing I post about 9.00. and I wanted to give you a heads up.0 -
That's awful! Must have been very scary for you both, I must admit that I put their 'da bird' up high when they're not playing with it but it's more because they would ruin it. Will definitely make sure that there is nothing else around that could be dangerous - thank you for posting, lots of mutual cuddles for a few days for you both I'll bet xx0
-
I knew you would be reading nonnie and that you have cats. and the number of cat toys I have seen and considered buying for him, been re-counting in my head, which have 'bits on strings' attached to them.........I have never considered how a cat could get strangled by them. Its definitely going to be the first consideration when I am choosing his monthly 'new toy'!
and yes - I will be doing 'elf and safety' checks all around the house! I need to anyway as my new granddaughter is due next Saturday! its been a few years since we had to consider baby-proofing the house. but I never thought of 'Barneyproofing it'! he is such a good cat IYKWIM?0 -
Poor Barney! I bet he won't want to play with that sort of toy again for a while. Ive got several dangly elastic type cat toys and it never would have occurred to me that they could be dangerous. Thank god you had the scissors so close at hand!0

Poor Barnes:eek: Thank goodness you were there and reacted quickly,so glad he is ok plenty of cuddles and dreamies in the next few days till he gets over the shock0

I just spent ages typing in a long post and Windows 8.1 tried to install itself on my puter! I had to do the old 'techie trick' and pull the plug as it wouldn't cancel! lost the post!
so as I am now peed off and ready to go chill out on Youtube with some nice relaxing 'gotobed' music - sorry you get the short version.
Barnes is very clingy today - he insists on sitting on my knitting pattern, scissors, ruler and wool. which I like to have on my right side.
he ate his lunch ok, and enjoyed his groom and treats but ignored 'chuck the dreamies'. not in the mood to play. not even 'Pingponguppastairs'.
he is lapsitting OH right now - despite OH piling up his cushions for him.
last night he cuddled up to my back - ALL NIGHT! usually he prefers to sleep on windowsill and my feet, sort of in rotation. he knows I don't like a Persian Cat Hat! I had a bit of a restless night too. lol - so his presence was very comforting.0 -
he still wants to be at my side. but, its been a very sunny, if cold, day: so he has wandered in and out the French doors. which is driving me a bit nutty - its too cold to leave them open for him and I keep having to get up and let him out or in! I don't think OH will go for getting a catflap in the double glazed French doors! that's if you can do it - I must look that up.............the doors have fixed double glazed 'windows' each side which is normally covered by the curtains, hmmmm.
anyway - its 'Fireworks night' so as he isn't allowed out after dark, the curtains got pulled, and the lamp went on............and he isn't bothered one bit! loads of bangs and screeches and he hasn't even lifted his head! I guess by now, he realises he is safe indoors and 'outdoors' doesn't bother him. I am so fortunate that NONE of my pets has ever had bad reactions to fireworks! First cat Timmy was almost impossible to keep in...............if someone opened a door he was GONE!
I got up this morning and as usual checked the dry food level in his bowl - it was only when I was putting the kettle on I realised 'I haven't topped up his dry food for a couple of days now'! double checked and his bowl was full. OH must be topping it up! now, this is the guy who said 'You can have the cat but YOU will be responsible for it - I am NOT feeding it or anything!' lol - I bet he wont change or top up the litter though! I THOUGHT I felt Barnes jump on the bed after OH left for work - he must have gone down and joined OH for breakfast! oh its so nice to wake up and realise I don't have to get up for GS2.................and OH does his own brekkie - though he does leave the washing up to me!0 -
Very chilly up here today but lovely and sunny, my two only get out when I'm at home and I have to leave the back door open and close the inside one....needless to say they don't like the cold very much so they only nip in and out over the winter months thank goodness. Unlike Barnes I have two big scaredy cats who hate loud noises hence having to leave the door open and im really glad that there hasn't been too many fireworks here as they growl when they hear them lol
Sam always lies with me and dh gets really chuffed with himself when sam chooses to pay him some attention :rotfl:
Glad your both recovering from the trauma xx0
