nonnie, I see you do green trees and white ones. what I would like would be a black tree (I have a black fibre optic tree bought last year), with silver highlights. could you do that? I love the shape of the trees you have done. my tree has lilac, aqua, pale green and silver balls - all with a satin type finish. any thoughts? Yeah I know a black tree is pretty off the wall! but it does look gorgous when lit.

I think a black one sounds lovely, I could paint it metallic black to have a sheen with some silver over the edges, you could then have silver glitter or not depending on your love of glitter....I generally sparkle at this time of year from head to toe working with all the time lol

The small glue in bulbs I use have Aqua and pale green in the pack, they used to have lilac as well so I could try to see if it's possible to get a pack of lilac to add to it, perhaps having clear in the mix would cover the silver aspect?

Let me know what you think xx

Just hijacking this post. How much are the round ones, inc postage? :D The white one with silver edging, would that come with a star, and coloured lights? It's adorable, and I don't think I'll get a tree up this year, so to have this would be amazing for me! :A

Hi Lifeforms, I only collected the round ones today and I couldn't remember whether it had a hole at the top or not and I'm pleased to say it does so it would have a star, you can have coloured lights no problem and silver glitter round the edges....basically whatever you would like :p. It costs £31 in total, £27 for the tree and £4 for postage xx

I like the idea of silver glitter - but, think matt black for the tree itself? oh this is difficult, I love the lustre on the baby moon - but think matt black would show up the glittery bits more? especially when its lit? what do you think nonnie? yet, a lustrous black would be prettier when it isn't lit! dammit - arrrrgghhhh! I cant decide!

What I'll do tomorrow is paint some paper with metallic on one side and Matt on the other and send you a wee photo to see if that helps. The Matt would be sprayed with the varnish spray so you have seen what effect that had on matt paint on the moon, cloud and bear so it wouldn't be too matt if that helps?

I took delivery of a whole bunch of small tree decorations today and I got a brand new 'baby's first christmas' and it's really cute, can't wait to paint it! I obviously live a rock n roll life :rotfl:

great nonnie! I will still have to think on whether I want a matt black tree or a lustrous one.

Barnes doesn't care of course - last Christmas sort of went over his head! despite the fact he had 'pressies'! and he got totally overwhelmed when the whole family came for lunch! he enjoyed it at first - all these kids! but, he disappeared upstairs pretty quickly! the kids were more interested in their toys than in him.
This Christmas will be quieter for him. we are going over my DDs for lunch (knowing her cooking skills - it will be 'burnt offerings'. - but at least she asked us! not entirely sure she really wanted us to accept.) it will be the first time in 37 years I haven't cooked Christmas lunch for everyone! Dessert will be edible cos I offered to do that!

OMG - what a day today! weatherwise, I have NEVER known it storm ALL day! and it has with a vengeance! Torrential rain, thunder, but strangely hardly any lightening, and no hail! much to Barnes relief.
we did have a little break in the weather just after midday - Barnes went out, but came back in after 5 mins - wild eyed and shaking! then we had the most torrential rain and loud thunder! This cat is a better weather forecaster than Carol Kirkwood!

We hardly ever get thunder and its a big event when we do, kids glued to the window, cats hiding, as for hail I honestly cannot remember the last time we had any, maybe once last winter or I could totally be making that up. We have the Isle of Arran right across from us and I think perhaps we get quite sheltered because of it. Do you get very warm weather during the summer normally?

The photo isn't that great at showing the colours, the bottom one is metallic which is too charcoal I think, the middle is Matt black and the top is matt covered by metallic, I'm really disappointed at the colour on the photo of the top one as its really just a shade lighter than the matt, a really dark charcoal. Anyway it'll maybe give you a better idea or it'll confuse you further! xx

nonnie - I understand the one shows up less well. trust that you say its just a bit lighter but with more lustre - I know certain paints don't photo well.so will have to think about that a bit more.

I have posted this elsewhere - so if you have already read it -I can only apologise.
we had a guy in to give us financial advice. as usual, Barnes greeted him politely, then left him alone. Barnes wanted to go out, so he sat in front of the French doors and gave a short 'Yoww'. the guy said 'did that cat just say 'out'?. of course we said that he did! lol- the guy was convinced that Barnes asked to go 'out'!
then later, Barnes jumped on settee next to me and squeeked at me. I looked at him and said 'Lunch'? and Barnes agreeably squeeked back - but it sounded like 'Eat'! roflmao - by now this guy thinks my Persian speaks English! or is he right and Barnes does know a few words of English?

I KNOW, and you all know that Barnes only 'squeeks' or 'yowls' he doesn't do 'miaows'! and a squeak or yowl can often sound like a 'word' in English............but then again.....................................is Barnes communicating in English words he can vocalise?

lovely lazy day today! I get a lot of those don't I? lol. I mean that after I do the necessary housework, I get lots of 'me time'! at least until the grandkids arrive for their sleepover - then its usually non-stop providing food and washing up, or making cakes.
OH trimmed Barnes claws today, we had to - he was pulling out clumps of fur! and making his skin bleed. Glad he did it for me - its a job I really, really, really, HATE!
barnes hasn't spent much time in the garden today - although the weather hasn't been TOO bad this afternoon. it was just warm enough for me to leave the doors open a bit for him to come and go as he pleases. he wasn't out long each time - seemed to prefer to bask in the afternoon sunshine 'inside' the doors out of the breeze.

Just taken grandgirls to bed and Barnes followed us up and crept into the bedroom when he thought I wasn't looking. silently around the bed and up on the chest of drawers and behind the curtains. But, tonight C teased him a bit by opening the curtains a bit - he squeeked at her and she closed them, then opened them again, and he arched his back and squeeked louder and longer at her! it was like he was saying 'oi - shut those curtains before she sees me'!
I bet he is on the pillows between them right now!

Well Barnes paid me a surprise visit during the night - and did what is becoming a regular occurrence - sneezed in my face! yyyyyeeeeeuuuuchhh! a simple yowl or squeak would suffice! anyway he settled down next to me and we slept until dawn, then he went back in with grandgirls. OoooKaayyy!
Got up, did breakfasts, Barnes had his one course of dry food and the girls started with omelettes then followed with porridge! not being completely stupid, I had them cooking their own omelettes under my supervision. both of them now seem to have omelette making down pat! I intend introducing them to 'variations on an omelette theme' - I don't think they know you can make 'sweet' omelettes!
the girls did Barnes G&T today - a fine job they made of it too! then they played 'catchthetreat' (I am running out of dreamies so they used Thomas cat treats). now, he isn't as keen on the Thomas treats as he is on 'Dreamies' - which is why he wasn't 'playing the game very hard'! little sod was just sitting there waiting for the treats to fall to the carpet! but he did make an effort to 'pounce' on them and did stir himself enough to catch one or two!
Sunday - so I wasn't here this afternoon.
came home and he barely stirred himself to acknowledge me! hmmm - I figure he is just used to the 'routine' now. its no longer exciting when I come home!
