Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

indeed I am happy! very happy. its full dark now and we just put it on (thanks for the two little bulbs you sent with it btw). its so pretty, the way the little stars shine on the walls. my living room is about the size of Sons bedroom and the cot is going at the far end - just enough light to see to the baby, but it shouldn't intrude to the other end of the room! Perfect, absolutely perfect. only another month or so to go (they moved her dates up a fortnight at her last antenatal visit). I can hardly wait to meet my new granddaughter! wonder if she will have red hair like her brother and her mum? (Ginger actually, the very same colour as Barneys fur!)
Talking of Barnes - the weather man warned that we may have showers today, maybe heavy and Thundery. well, when Barnes shot indoors and got as close as he could to me, I had a feeling that although the sun was out - a shower was coming - and sure enough two minutes later it had clouded over, was thunder and then hail! and Barnes doesn't bat an eyelash over thunder - he absolutely hates hail! it seems to scare him half to death! I could feel how tense he was as he cowered (yes, cowered) against my side. so, I am sat on settee with cat sat next to me and my arm round him! must have looked very weird............as the potato man started laughing, when he knocked on my kitchen window.
(he isn't made from a potato - him and his friend have a 'potato round'. They come round every Tues and sell a bag of spuds for £2. always the best quality they can get, and its a good big bag. you just never know what variety they are going to be!
Atrix - I don't really mind if his food contains Omega oils - it hasn't affected his skin or poos, I just wondered why the hell his breath smelt 'strongly' of fish! its going now so it may have been the meds he was on leaving his system? Are you feeling a bit better now luv? you sounded awfully full of a cold on the phone.0 -
I love the way the stars shine as well, in fact both my kids have a globe with stars and crescent moon shapes cut out that I painted for them when they were tiny and they still both use them every night...dd is 16 and ds is 12!
That's a great bargain with the potatoes and 'potato man' made me laugh out loud
Funnily enough my mum always wanted a child with red hair as my dad's siblings all had red hair but not him, so much so the first question she asked the doctor when my oldest brother was born was not 'is it a boy or a girl' but 'does it have red hair'!! Needless to say I'm the youngest of 6 and none of us or her 11 grandkids have red hair much to her disappointment lol
I'm sure the next month will fly by, I'm so excited for you xx0 -
nonnie - I am sure that the baby moon will become a muchloved nightlight. I cant thank you enough! its gorgeous! the photos don't do it justice. for example the light colour on the moons nightcap has a beautiful lustre. OH and I were so impressed! the detail is lovely. I have it on my glass display unit at the moment. and just thinking 'Nonnie does Christmas trees too' - instead of my naff fibre optic angel I think a Christmas tree would look better'! do they have a light inside too?
we do tend to 'name people' via their jobs here in South Wales. rofl. We had 'Clive the Milk' and 'Nicholas the Undertakers'. even after ten or more years I don't know this mans name...........so he is the 'Potato Man'! (but to some he is 'the ciggy man' - cos he does the 'Calais run' and gets cheap fags!), couldn't say what he gets most profit from. BUT, I only ever buy potatoes from him!
my DIL hates her ginger hair and dyes it blond. shame. I love ginger hair and it totally suits my GS2! and he thinks its funny that him and Barnes share the same colour 'hair'!0 -

Oooohh I've got a 'Patrick the undertaker' but i'm cheating slightly as he is my brother
Yip the christmas trees have exact same bulb and electrics in them as the baby moon, there are two different types, a ledge tree which is flatter so that it can sit on a window ledge/shelf or a round tree. I'll go and hunt on the computer for any photo's I might have....

Not sure if you can make out the shape of the trees very well, I'm going to my ceramics class tonight and will be finishing off a green ledge tree that I can photo side on if you want to see a different view and also lit up to give you an idea. They can be painted in any colour and given clear or coloured bulbs and there are about 14" tall including the base.
Better go and start dinner, ds first parents night at the academy and then onto my class, I swear to god I'd be as well wearing running gear because you end up running all over the school between appointments and it's not a small school :rotfl:0 -
Got another prescription of Ovarid for Scrappy today. I thought we were getting somewhere with him, especially with getting the electronic ID cat flap installed, but Blackie's "disappearance" (do cats sense that another cat is dying? does he think Blackie's gone to Grandma's without him?) seems to have sent him back off on a another overgrooming do.
Mum's coming over this weekend and, to be honest, I'm hoping she'll volunteer to take him for a few weeks. He's going there for the first week in November whilst we're away so she might suggest taking him early. I don't want to ask her outright in case she feels obliged to rather than because she wants to, does that make sense?0 -
nonnie - I missed the post pick-up today - dam postie was half hour early and I saw his van departing! so I will post your payment in the morning. I wont leave letters overnight in our local post box as it has a habit of going 'on fire'.
his missus - I can understand you not wanting to 'ask' mum to take him - you don't want her thinking you are taking the P! and yes, I think Scrappy is probably 'grieving' for Blackie. he may not understand that Blackie is gone forever or maybe he does? whichever, he is missing him and grieving for him. its just a shame we cant do 'talking therapy' with our cats isn't it? if we knew exactly what they were really unhappy about - we could help.
Atrix - sounds more like you are suffering a reaction from the 'flu jab'. tried Echinacea liquid? far more effective than tabs and works quicker - your wife should try it for her chest infection too.
Barnes has hardly set paw outside today - even during sunny periods! he did venture out once - but came in complaining loudly! Too cold Barnes? I think I made a mistake letting him out when the weather was so warm ..............he thinks we live in a warm climate now! and I feel the cold so my living room is kept 'comfortably warm'!
He has spent most of the day on settee back or pouncing on my knitting wool! but he did come on to settee arm and put his face up to mine, and rubbed affectionately! I also got a few 'whups upside the head' when I was ignoring him! he IS such a lovely cat! have I told you all how much I adore him???????????
I know there is a flea on him - I saw bite marks during his G&T, but dammed if I can find it! time to spray the house again I think. He MUST be picking them up in the garden..........do they lie in wait for him? because today he wasn't out long (2 minutes at most) and the other flea should have been killed by the spot on - but the bites were fresh. this is so frustrating!0 -
No problem, there's no rush xx0

nonnie, I see you do green trees and white ones. what I would like would be a black tree (I have a black fibre optic tree bought last year), with silver highlights. could you do that? I love the shape of the trees you have done. my tree has lilac, aqua, pale green and silver balls - all with a satin type finish. any thoughts? Yeah I know a black tree is pretty off the wall! but it does look gorgous when lit.0

Just hijacking this post. How much are the round ones, inc postage? The white one with silver edging, would that come with a star, and coloured lights? It's adorable, and I don't think I'll get a tree up this year, so to have this would be amazing for me! :A
