Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

The toileting thing hopefully won't be an issue forever and cats can have a way of melting a heart. Despite Tikka spending all night lying on our bed growling whenever Harley so much as twitched a muscle last night, and calling her the names under the sun, he still succumbed to her sitting on his lap this morning, snuggling hiss dressing gown and purring loudly...until she growled when he had to get up and get ready0

I forgot to weigh Barney today - will do it later!
he saw his twin siblings briefly today - but got squished by them! didn't please him at all! he poo'd in the bath straight after!
then GS came up - Son thought it would amuse GS to keep a ping pong ball in the air using the breath from his mouth - GS wasn't impressed but Barney was!!!!!!!!! lol Barnes couldn't take his eyes off him!
defrosted chicken livers so Barnes had the melt off them - wooooooohh he loved that!
his coat is looking really much better and he is, I think, starting to feel 'at home'!0 -
Ive got to say - I have had two cats in the past - but Barney is the most persistent 'stalker'! unless he is fast asleep he follows me around! made me laugh today as he followed me into the bedroom and while I was making the bed he jumped on it and 'followed me around the bed'! he must have got dizzy as as soon as I had finished making it he collapsed in the middle of it with a loud 'humph'!
I cant go to the bathroom on my own either! Barney follows me and is quite happy to have a pee in his litter tray!
If I am reading or watching TV, Barney will jump up on the sofa and on to the top of it and (he thinks) sneak along and then down the arm to where I am......he then puts one paw on my shoulder and whups me upside the head with the other paw! while purring loudly in my ear! I must be nuts cos I think its funny!
He wont 'lapsit', he prefers to sit beside me (slightly higher on the arm of the sofa)and purr in my ear!
Son didn't warn me that Barney prefers to sleep on the pillow! right above my head! in fact it feels like he is resting on my head! I don't like it and remove him. he goes and sulks on landing for an hour or so, then comes back and tries it again! after another sulk he will then sleep on my feet! no wonder I am so tired in morning! and Barney is even more tired - he doesn't get up until after nine!0 -
Thanks for the updates I love hearing how you and barnes are getting on. He sounds like such an adorable cat. Is he a pure pedigree? I am still thinking of getting another cat maybe next year, I have never considered a pedigree before, but hearing about the character of him I might think about it. I would never pay for a cat (apart from the donation part), there are plenty of cats in rescue centres but they so occasionally need to re-home pedigrees.0

That is one ugly cat. I love cats. I'd love that Cat. No offence meant. By Ugly I mean different, and a bit freaky if you are used to "Normal" looking cats.
Our cat, has no litter tray. Can't keep it downstairs as it's too small, can't keep it in the bathroom, as it's too small. No cat flap, because the back door is odd, but never had a problem.0 -

:rotfl:
It's nice he's attached to you though, he's obviously happy around you. My kitten's started following me upstairs - he runs up the stairs like a looney tune and then around and around the rooms until I either go back down or settle somewhere. He's also started trying to sleep on my pillow, I was rudely awoken by his claws digging into my head as he stretched out.
Have you tried putting a fleece/bed somewhere in the bedroom he might adopt as his sleeping area? My Blackie is quite content in a shoe box in the corner of the bedroom.0 -

I am told that he is a pure-bred 'red peke-faced persian'. Son was given him by a breeder who I am pretty sure imported him from America to surrepticiously give new genes to his 'established' bloodline (not allowed under Cat Club rules apparently). he wouldn't give son the pedigree papers though and had him neutered. (Cat not Son)
Red Peke faced are not recognised as a 'show breed' over here - apparently they have breathing issues (rubbish!). I have looked up some of the Persian breeds allowed here and most of them seem to be bred to look 'freaky'!
to my mind cats look much better if their noses are BELOW their eyes! (American breed rules demand this) and the peke faced are sticking to this rule!
if you google 'red peke-faced persian' you will see some pics come up - Barney is very like the ginger and white on the first pic.
Yes, I believe there is a Persian rescue - there is also a RagDoll rescue and if you like the shape and fluffiness of a Persian but prefer the more normal looking head then check these babies out! Their temperament is quite similar to the Persian too.0 -
Barnes likes to follow me upstairs too - you never know I may be going to play 'round and round the bed'! lol.
I went up this morning to go to the loo and to fetch my Kumihimo disc from the craft room (Barnes followed me up) and I got downstairs before I realised I hadn't got it, so turned around and went back up. came down with it and 'OH Sh**, forgotten the bobbins! turned round went back up again still with Barney following me ...........came down again looked down expecting to see Barnes............... who was sat at the top of the stairs clearly expecting me to come back up again to carry on this strange game! or making sure I really WAS going to stay downstairs this time!0 -
jeez - must have 'oldtimers'! I keep forgetting to post what I came on Pets to post! (not to mention the stairs debacle today! rofl)
Atrix - Barney has put on nearly 2lbs in seventeen days! he IS still a bit fussy about food - but as another poster pointed out - Grandma is happy to supply an 'alternative meal' if he doesn't want the one supplied! he also seems happier to eat the dried food............bit puzzled over that?
lol - I gave him the last lot of worming tabs - I thought to hide them in those treat 'sticks' he loves, but he jumped up and watched me put the tablets in bits of sticks - yet was happy to wolf them down, pills included!!!!!!!! and to think I spent ages crushing the others up and 'hiding' them in his food - which didn't fool him for one moment and I had to use the spare ones hidden in prawns! he loves prawns you know.............nearly as much as your kids do!0 -

My kitten will only eat dried food, won't even eat fresh meat. After months of trying him on all sorts of wet/fresh food my theory is if he's eating and healthy I'm not going to worry about it.0
