My DD is suffering too. Four out of five in flat have a sickness bug which seems to last for 3 days, and she's been feeling really sorry for herself. It's a steep learning curve to be independent, for both of us. I really had to stop myself jumping in the car0

It's very stressful being a parent to a new uni student xIf it has tyres or testicles, it's gonna give ya problems..

Thank you all so so much for all the hints & tips, it kept me focused when my head would otherwise have been all over the place. DD is moving in this Sunday so still has a few days left to get organised & packed. Most of her friends have already gone but she still has some goodbye's to say this week. I choke up every time I think about it but I'm hoping that we'll all be too busy getting her sorted on Sunday for too many tears. Famous last words! I feel a mixture of sadness at her leaving and excitement at this new chapter in her life. I just hope I can hold it together long enough, DS is getting quite tearful as well and I need to be strong for him. The two of them are as thick as thieves and he may find it hard to adjust. Thank god for Skype & Google Hangouts!
That's how I feel about my son going on Sunday.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

That's what she said it was, but I thought that was a euphemism for a hangover. She's been told at one of the events last week that they should watch out for symptoms of meningitis. She's on the mend now, so at least it wasn't that.0 -

Sorry to worry you,but she's heard the same from friends at other unis.Think it must be standard advice. The other thing several of her friends have been told is that they are statistically likely to marry a person in the room! She looked around and was horrified0

I had this conversation with DD last week re meningitis as I know students are the next high risk category and wanted her to feel she can tell me if she feels really ill and not try to carry on.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I have just had some pictures from my DD of her bedroom, nice and tidy - can't quite believe it, she was the messiest mare on earth here! She also sent a picture of the meal she cooked tonight, Ratatouille with sausages, looked lovely, long may it all continue!0
