My boss gave me an old kenwood chef and I managed to set it on fire within a couple of weeks. I put some meatloaf in to mix, took a drink to oh in the garden, got back and the kitchen was full of smoke!

I would pay off my mortgage and buy a new car, or if I was pmsing I'd blow it all on designer clobber and fly off on holiday.

There's a known fault on Kenwood Chefs, where a resistor (capacitor or something like that - one of those little tubular bits with colour coding rings around it) burns out. Ours did, we'd only had it 20 odd years.., shocking! I looked it up on-line and bought a replacement kit from a chap in Winchester (selling on Ebay.) Two blobs of solder later and it's been running ever since, at least 3 years now.., probably 5. As you can gather I'm no expert, but I can put a bit of solder on.
